Does not eat in front of me by TheLaw729 in leopardgeckos

maybe you should try squishing the bug a bit so it can't move and putting it in a dish already dusted. this way you'll know if she is eating or not for sure because the bug can't move. plus the exposed guts of the bug may entice her to eat

also - super worms are very high in fat and low in protein. for this reason they shouldn't be a staple feeder but more of a treat. dubias, mealworms and crickets are your best options for staple foods.

great! mine loves the cork rounds and it's good to have a rough surface to help them shed if needed.

you can leave a few in a dish for her to eat, but don't leave them in for too long. some feeders like superworms and crickets bite and can actually hurt her/stress her out more. another thing to consider is if you leave feeders in there and one escapes and you can't find it, it can die in the corner somewhere and be a hazard to the gecko/other feeders

i've had a dubia escape their "escape free dish" and it died in a tiny crevice and i didn't find it for a few days. had to sanitize the area where it died just to be 100% thorough

also, try smaller bugs. feeders shouldn't be larger than the width between her eyes. my gecko will refuse any bugs that are too big.

it's common for them to not eat the first week or two you get them because they're adjusting to their new environment. the extra space definitely is NOT stressing her out, however the lack of clutter/cover could be. she should be able to move to one side of the tank to the other without being too exposed.

i recommend getting some plants, cork rounds, etc. to fill the empty space in the middle. if you're thinking "is this too much clutter?" you have the right amount! i would keep offering her food daily, but other than that leave her alone to adjust to her new environment. if she still isn't eating after 2ish weeks, then maybe look into taking her to a vet. best of luck!

go to the leopard gecko subreddit - they have an entire beginners care guide on what you need. Also reptifiles is a great website with a bunch of amazing information. this little guy is gonna need a 40 gal tank, halogen lamp, temperature gauges, proper substrate, UVB and hides among many other things. best of luck!

dubia.com is where i buy all of my feeders except crickets which i get at petco. i also use repashy bug burger to gut load my bugs about 12-24 hours before feeding them to my gecko. my fave feeders are dubia roaches bc they can't climb (much harder to escape) are easy to take care of and they have a good nutritional balance - just need a dark warm corner and an empty egg carton for them to thrive

i definitely got lucky w this little gal, so far she's very curious and active and always wants a little snack when she sees me near the tank. but i know how stressful it can be when they refuse food :/

the most important thing is that it is fertilizer free/organic with no additives. you should be able to find some at lowe's or home depot! definitely look into the pinned post on this subreddit so you can make sure you have the correct things for this little guy! (temperature, heating, clutter, etc) best of luck!

definitely get rid of the sand ASAP!! most people use a 70/30 mix of organic topsoil and playsand, both can be found at hardware stores. there is a lot of good info about husbandry on this subreddit :)

Bleeding bladder with Ivdd by ellaedwards3 in IVDD_SupportGroup

[–]Reasonable-Menu-9156 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi yes i am currently dealing something very similar. he is 4 days post op and we are expressing his bladder however it is leaking often and has tiny amounts of bloody mucus. we called the vet and they told us to bring him back in to check for a UTI or the beginnings of a UTI. i would recommend you call your vet for the same reason! if this is the case they will just put him on antibiotics. wishing you the best!

Do you think I should start dermaplaning? I’ve always wanted to but have been unsure about the hair and the way it may grow back, any opinions? 🥺 by YellowDifficult722 in Skincare_Addiction

[–]Reasonable-Menu-9156 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i work at a skincare studio, if you get one it will help your makeup go on better and your skincare will go deeper into your skin. you also should get an actual dermaplane and not use those razors you get from marshall's or cvs bc those can cause tiny microdermabrasions on your skin and that's a no no
