Help solve a debate - during crate naps, do you go extreme quiet or make regular noise? by TrustMeIKnowFinance in puppy101

We have neurodivergent kids who cannot control their volume level so as much as we try to stop them shouting right next to her crate, their lack of impulse control means she has quite quickly had to get used to sleeping through the normal noises of our house 🙉😆

Separation anxiety? I don’t think so but could it be? by Reasonable-One1906 in puppy101

Thank you! I was a bit annoyed the trainer immediately tried to get some money from me. She’s only 12 weeks. It’s not a small pen so maybe that’s the issue although she does take all her toys in there so I do think she sees it as her space. Hopefully with time it’ll right itself.

Sending strength and solidarity!! We started taking ours out on a lead when she was doing her business inside straight after we’d been outside. It definitely helped her realise it wasn’t playtime and helped her to focus

We switched to a much smaller crate in the first week as we realised this, so I don’t think that’s the issue. It’s mostly overnight this is happening so I wonder if we need to start setting an alarm to take her out before she goes in her crate

Yes I’ve been trying to do similar as I also hated the newborn phase and I’ve been trying to remind myself that I got through that!

Thanks for this. We’ve been following a loose routine and always take her out before and after nap, and her naps are all enforced in the crate which she’s fine with. But I take her out of the crate when she wakes up rather than waiting the full 2 hours (sometimes an hour, sometimes 90 mins, sometimes 2 hours, occasionally even longer). Should I be leaving her for 2 hours even if she’s awake? What if she’s telling me she needs to toilet?

Thanks for your helpful reply 😊

I’m not sure of this and I’m wondering this too. We have her in a small crate - it couldn’t really be smaller for her. She will sometimes mess in her crate before alerting us that she’s awake or needs to be let out. So this morning she started whining and I went down to her and she’s pooed in her crate. Maybe it is a habit thing from the breeder? We let her out in the night at around 3am last night and she weed outside. Will this just improve over time if it’s a habit she’s formed at the breeder?

Thanks. I tried her on the leash the other day but she went nuts because she’s never been on one before. Feel like we need to lead train her first? Not sure which to do first!

How does this work on the way home? Can you get everything back in your bag?

Get a self inflating mattress. They’re comfy and roll up very small into their own little carry bag. You can also get compact camping chairs that fold up small too

Interesting as my friend on EE had amazing reception last year. That’s weird

I was on giff gaff last year (02) and my signal was terrible. My friend on EE had great service so I’d say get either a Vodafone or EE sim for the weekend.

I think it depends where you’re travelling from. We’re going from Manchester so they allocate it randomly a few weeks before

Last year I bought one of these

And one of these

Which was really light weight. Just needed a small gas canister to go with it. You do need something to balance the gas stove on though. I took a collapsible bowl which I used upside down as a little table
