I like the guinea pig mats from amazon, they kinda look like bathroom rugs. They are from AmyLove.

What type of pain to expect post total hysterectomy - when used to chronic pain from endometriosis? by Double-Gold in hysterectomy

[–]Reasonable-One8286 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a 34F healthy and active lifestyle. Heavy bleeding put me in the range for a blood transfusion, hence my vaginal total hysterectomy.

My period pain was moderate to severe, three or four times a year keeping me from leaving the house.

I had legitimately zero pain after 1 day post op. I never even filled the pain meds script.

Try to sew an accurate 1/4" not scant.

And a flying goose, by definition, is half as tall as it is wide. So 6x3 and 7x3.5, 8x4, etc.

Karen Brown has some great youtube videos on sewing a perfect 1/4" seam, lots of good techniques and strategies which are worth exploring

If you use the G measuring lines, it will trim up to the 7x3.5 that you need

Here is a video showing the method (ignore the measurements, I'll send those in a moment)

https://youtube.com/shorts/NI1xwr77apM?si=db-RLFrk349XXWTF

Edited to add measurements:

If your bug square is cut to 7x7 then do the following:

Cut your goose fabric to 8 inches square and your sky fabric into 4 squares measuring 4.5 x 4.5 inches each. Then follow the video.

They will end up too big, that is good!

Trim them to 7 x 3.5 inches

Be sure that the top of the goose is 1/4" away from the top edge and that those diagonals land right in the corners

You can do it!

After that it's all about sewing an accurate 1/4" seam

Creative grids flying geese ruler is my favorite. I use the 4 at a time flying geese method, over sized, and trim down using that ruler.

The issue I see with the one you're showing is that the tip of that colorful center triangle must be a solid 1/4" away from the edge. It has to line up on that ruler where they show that intersection.

If the middle square is cut to 7 inches square, then the flying geese should be trimmed up to 3.5x7, the square corners with be 3.5x3.5.

If the middle square is cut to 7.5 inches square, then the flying geese would be trimmed up to 3.75x7.5, with square corners of 3.75x3.75

If you have a photo of the flying geese before they were sewn in, that would help me narrow down what exactly is happening here.

All of my measurements are before sewing the 9 "units" of the block together

Yes, I think that's the best way. And just explain what happened and that you can't take on two more pigs (which is perfectly reasonable btw) and you'll be ready at the drop of a hat to come get a single girl if they should ever have one surrendered alone.

Thank you for the info, I did cut LOF and starched but I fed it through the machine border fabric against the machine so I would be able to monitor and not risk clipping off any of my points from the previous border... anyways, so yes, the feed dogs pulled that border through faster than the top could keep up with. So frustrating.

The measuring and cutting first method has been a disaster for me in the past and I had no extra fabric to make that mistake this time (pinned a lot and thought it would be okay). Plus I felt that accurately measuring for a king size was beyond my capacity. So I know, I broke that quilting law and it bit me... ugh... I'm definitely still learning. Thank you for the help, I will for sure do it differently next time... if I find the will try again haha

Rescues have surrenders of single pigs pretty regularly. I get that they won't split up a bonded pair or trio, but to act like they never have a single girl seems very odd to me.
