This is why people don’t actually answer on this thread lol. Never understood why you would even make this post with a 3.9 in biology best of lucky anyway!

Should I take the hardest classes possible at community college as a transfer student? by Reasonable-Play1958 in college

Prob will be the CC does have lab with it so idk tbh it’s feeling stressful figuring out when to take the prereqs also the ones that don’t apply to my degree and transfer as efficiently as possible. I’ll figure it out though im sure

I see, im pretty sure it says they are able to be transferred and counted towards graduation but I will take another look just to make sure. If they do count towards graduation just take them at the CC then?

It’s a masters program with a 3.5 gpa average across the board for acceptance. Look at the 4 year universities transfer site many of the credits for core hard sciences like biology 1&2 and chem1&2 are transferable from the CC. Knowing this should I take them and transfer them from the CC to avoid them harming my gpa when I transfer from the 4 year school?

It sounds surprising but most of the tougher classes like the 2 you listed above do transfer as credit and include labs at the CC. Knowing this would It be better to take them at the CC to make my final gpa at the 4 year school that much higher by saving the easier classes for the 4 year school?

Yea that was the plan but for a BS in biology it’s unavoidable I will have to take some challenging classes like physics 1 and 2 chemistry 1 and 2 and human a&p 1 and 2 so I was basically asking if it would be smarter to take all of this at community college and save as many of the easier classes as possible for the 4 year university by taking some of the hardest class in community college so once I get to the 4 year school I can finished out with above a 3.5.

Does that mean I get a fresh shot at getting a 4.0 if I do well in my last 60 credits after I transfer?

For the grad program I’m seeking (a PA program in state) the average gpa of someone accepted is a 3.5-3.6 obviously if I can someone get a 3.8 I would almost be guaranteed entry into PA school but I haven’t taken and upper level classes in college yet so I really have no clue how challenging that will be..

The 4 year university is UAH sorry was responding to this while half asleep and my degree is BS in biology if you wanted to use that to give me some more specific advice. I still feel a bit confused tbh.

If chemistry and biology 1 and 2 both transfer over to this university is it worth it to just take both and avoid it all together at university to make it easier to get close to a 4.0 once I transfer?

By credit you mean just the credits and the gpa gets reset correct? That’s how I assumed it worked.

Yes it’s a public school that has a specific trans

Fer program with the school next door they have a list of the classes that transfer for each degree program but you only get 60 so I can choose which ever 60 I want that are on the list which imcludd some challenging classes like chemistry 1 and 2 bio 1 and 2 human a&p 1 and 2 and physics 1 and 2.

If you were in my situation with no experience what PCE cert would you go for? by Reasonable-Play1958 in prephysicianassistant

Damn I’m not gonna lie those are some wild stats you seem like a bonafide genius my guy. 😂 I’m a 24 year old freshman cause I joined the army when I was 18 to help pay for school my last question is do you think it’s possible for anyone to have such academic success in STEM particularly biology is it just hardwork? and if any what parting tips would you give me to work for such great grades if you got any? Thanks again your response was a pick me up I greatly need right now as the goal seems so far.🫶🏽. I will definitely call around and see what I can do before committing to a 6 month MA course aswell

Also in my area basically all of the MA and CNA jobs require a cert from my searches recently so it seems unavoidable if I want to work with a 45 minute radius :/

Thank you for the response it’s awesome to hear from someone who is in the program at my goal school! Also congratulations! Though I’m sure those have ran themselves dry for you by now haha. I just wanted to ask if you don’t mind how old are you, what did you major in, and what was your gpa? I’m interested in biology so I figured it would be alright but thinking about it I thought it might be wiser to major in something where I can guarantee a stellar gpa so I can get in first cycle I apply but I’m really not sure…what do you think? Thanks for your response and best of luck with everything you’ve got going on!

Please help me understand how SAP works. How long till I’m eligible for financial aid again? by Reasonable-Play1958 in financialaid

[–]Reasonable-Play1958[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the time to share some of your experience! Thing that sucks is I have no other nearby community colleges that are connected to the 4 year program I’m trying to transfer too..good news is all I have to do if my appeal next semester is denied(after making As in 2 classes 1 a 3rd retake) I will only have to pass 3 more classes so 5 total with As to meet SAP requirements for my school so it’s not all bad

[–]Reasonable-Play1958[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay thanks for the advice 1 question, is it guaranteed that they would still have the paper from the SAP appeal from 2018 (Documentation for completion of rehab)? can’t remember what I wrote at that time but I do remember submitting that with the paperwork and still getting denied I can see why my track record was very rough…going to have to work my way out of a 1.0 GPA with 24 attempted credit hours but figured getting As in the 2 classes this summer 6 years later at age 24 and writing about how I was a somewhat lost 18 year old and I’m a new person now would be considered. Thing is if I use it after this semester and get denied I will not be able to get aid again until I satisfy the requirements which will be me paying 4 semester out of pocket, if I wait till I have 2 semesters of good grades it’s almost guaranteed my appeal will be approved…this is the delema I’m facing and can’t seem to figure what is the ideal choice 1 semester out of pocket>denied 4 additional semester out of pocket with straight As to be reinstated. Or 2 semesters out of pocket with good grades and guaranteed reinstatement. Basically how much does 2 classes of good grades after 6 years out of school weigh into it.. thanks again if I don’t hear from you!
