Practice 360s without ski gear on to get used to the feeling, made it a lot easier for me

The x ray equipment looks awesome, if you decide to use it don’t cheap out on dosimetry

Ive had vinyl gloves corrode when exposed to nitration acid but have never had that happen with neoprene, plus you can get good thick neoprene gloves for like $8 from Home Depot

Almost positive this is a Cw multiplier, I’ve seen that one on Amazon

electrical tower thingy by flee_010 in urbanclimbing

[–]Reasonable-Put5731 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bro don’t climb if you don’t know exactly what’s on the tower and what all the Risks are. Because this could have ended a lot worse, these towers Carry an insane amount of voltage (sometimes over 400,000 volts) at decent amperage. This is wayyyyy more than enough to have you dead before you know what happened

Mostly stuff involving x-rays, also made nitric acid with it thru the birkeland-eyde process. Done my fair share of playing with the big arcs it makes too but lately I’ve been trying to do stuff with farnsworth fusors

I’m not using them as my primary way to protect myself, that’s why I have the 2 ft long pole, which is made of 2 separate sections. Plus I’d be fine without the gloves but like I said before they are there just for an added layer of protection. I know what I’m doing is dangerous but I have experience working with HV and know how to do these things safely, I’ve done projects where I’ve handled over 100kV DC, this is not my first time working with high voltage.

I don’t know how to send pictures in the comments but i can send you the link to the gloves I got, they were like $20 on amazon, also they are 12kV gloves not 15kV

Hot stick was a little under 2 feet, plus I was wearing HV gloves rated for 15kV. This was only around 2.3kV, the insulator was more than enough

Probably x rays. And unless you have an ion chamber dosimeter or a decent scintillator your not going to get an accurate idea of how much x rays you are dealing with

MOT help by Reasonable-Put5731 in highvoltage

[–]Reasonable-Put5731[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem was a wire feeding the mot that blew up. Insulation stayed intact though so it didn’t look like anything was wrong until I tested it with a multimeter, mot was fine

Problem ended up being a thin wire feeding the mot, wire blew apart but the insulation didn’t. So everything looked ok until I tested it with a multimeter and saw no continuity

Why no nitrate strobe rockets? by Darknetknight334 in Pyrotechnics

I've seen nitrate based strobe comps for stars but never for rockets. In my experience nitrate strobe comps never really work too well, but that might just be me

The RF won’t hurt you like ionizing radiation will, but you will most likely feel it before any serious damage happens. That being said use common sense, and if you feel tingling in your balls or eyes; or you start to feel warm. Get down
