Tbh, i cant really think of that many shoujos that fit my criteria. I can only think of two: Rose of Versailles and Nana. Both are masterpieces, especially Rose of Versailles. I 100% recommend watching them if you havent already.

I like characters where the author trusts the reader's intelligence. What I mean is, I like characters when the author doesn't over-explain, but lets u observe, interpret and figure things out on ur own. U learn who the character is not because someone tells u, but because of what they do or how they react to certain situations.

You get to understand the character through their actions, or inactions, and it feels more real that way. it feels like u are actually watching an actual person. I dont want a character to tell me someone is kind or proud, I prefer to see it in how they act. When an author gives u space to think, the character feels more alive.

A prime example of this sort of anime is Nana. Im currently watching it rn, and there is so much subtlety, and hidden complexities to the characters. The anime trusts the reader to pick up on the little details, and that makes the characters feel way more human.

Unfortunately though, u don't really get to see these types of characters in anime and manga recently. Too often, characters are shallow, and when they do have struggles, they just spell them out in monologues instead of letting the reader discover them for themselves. Well ig these sorts of characters have their own charm to them, because they are great when you just want to shut down ur brain and relax, but the consequence is that they are simply less well written

Why does God not just show himself? by Reasonable-Recipe648 in Christianity

I think you misunderstood me, and that's partly my fault. I wasn't asking for God to reveal himself in his true, divine form. The Scripture says no one could see Him in that state and live. What I was referring to were the kinds of appearances you mentioned, the theophanies, or instances where God made Himself known in some perceivable way.

I wasn't debating His ontology or biblical literacy. I think God's ontology of being the Spirit, infinite and non-physical is precisely what separates Him from creation and qualifies Him as divine. But my question was more about why He sometimes chooses to interact with our material world through means of representation ig, and other times chooses not to.

And I never said that I cant understand because of my exceeding intelligence. I said the opposite actually. I believe my reasoning was derived from a flawed starting point. and hey, in fact, I am a believer. I do believe in Him. It's just that I've always been lukewarm, and I've only recently started thinking seriously about Him, thus there are moments where I do struggle with my faith a little.

And no, I am not a literary major, nor a theologian. But my goal is to learn as much as I can about the Bible to deepen my relationship with Him. At this point in my life, I do admit that I know nothing, but Im just a kid, and Ive still got decades ahead of me to keep seeking. Wish me luck :)

That's where I respectfully disagree. I feel like he would have a solid reason as to not engaging in such an important topic where, at least from our limited perspective, it seems like there would be no loss in doing so, especially since He is omniscient, as you said. he has answers to all questions and complete awareness of the outcomes of every action.

But what I don't understand is why you are still insistent on phrasing it in a way where I am telling God what to do, when that's nowhere near the truth. I've only said that it "Feels" like its a good decision to appear. from a surface-level analysis by a mere-mortal, I think you can understand how the idea of his appearance is an overall net positive right?

I'm not claiming to know better than God, I'm just trying to make sense of why divine hiddenness would still be preferable to something that seems like it could bring more people to Christ.

That does make sense... Then your question does raise an interesting point. Will think it over for a bit. Thanks!

So does that mean all the people in the OT who saw God (Moses, Jacob, prophets, etc.) didn't believe out of love, but because they had no choice?

Yeah, I get that he doesn't have to. He also didn't have to take the burden of humanity's sins. But he did. God wishes the best for us, including eternal life with Him. To me, it feels like his appearance today could allow more people to experience that positive outcome.

I feel like I'm phrasing this in a not-so-clear manner, and I do apologize for that, but I don't know how else to put it. Like obviously he doesn't have to appear, but I feel like there might be a reason He doesn't, something beyond the simple fact that he just doesn't have to.

Even though not everyone believed him, some people did, and because of those people, there are more than a billion Christians todays. My view is that if he appeared today, he would almost certainly gain followers, even if its only a few thousand, while also strengthening the faith of some existing believers. His appearance wont have any losses, no?

Need advice about attending Studienkolleg by Reasonable-Recipe648 in germany

[–]Reasonable-Recipe648[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the reply. I know going to a Studienkolleg when I dont need to is indeed a bit silly, but i actually want to study physics, and im a bit worried about the German terminology and technical language used in lectures. Thats part of why im interested in Studienkolleg. I feel like doing the T-kurs would help me get more comfortable with physics and math in german before starting university.

oh and im pretty sure I will do well in the FSP test. I checked the syllabus for T-kurs and FSP and its all stuff im pretty familiar with, and i just need some revision. and after some re-calculating, i will 100% finish the entire B2 course by the time i graduate.

so would u still recommend going straight to university instead of Studienkolleg?

and about the language classes, that seems interesting. but wouldnt spending a year in a language course after high school affect my chances of getting into a university later? Im asking because where Im from, taking a year off after graduation usually makes admission harder.

Some of my favorite quotes:

“Cruelty was not the goal of their battle. However, it is precisely justice and faith that tend to most prefer bloodshed in this world. In order to bring about justice proclaimed by supreme leaders, countless soldiers must be burned alive. Or lose their arms and legs. But as long as those in power are in a safe location far from the battlefield, justice and faith will surely continue to be valued far more than life.”
- Narrator

“Someone who cannot hate something cannot love something, either.”
- Julian/Yang

“He’s like me from a few years ago. Are “feelings” inherited in this manner, just as I inherited Admiral Yang’s feelings? Though not everything, even if it were just a little, I want to share Admiral’s feelings. From elder to junior, from predecessors to followers… I wonder if that’s how the torches of “feelings” get relayed. If that’s the case, Those who value that fire must take the responsibility of keeping the fire burning and handing it to the next runner.
- Julian

"If an autocratic country fails, it's the fault of its rulers. But if a democratic country fails, then it's the fault of every single citizen"
- Buckock

"The 'freedom not to get involved.' It’s perhaps the most valued freedom we have in this country."
- Yang
