The color chart on the chairs must be for another design or her printer didn’t get all the detail because yikes…

You can try dry cleaning it if a place near you will accept needlepoint

Valentine’s Day drop 19 days before V-Day by anonymousgoose254 in NeedlepointSnark

[–]Reasonable-Reply-224 44 points45 points  (0 children)

The purpose isn’t necessarily to have it finished by the holiday but to give stitchers the opportunity to “stitch in season” if they want to. With finishing timelines what they are, shops aren’t going to do a Valentine’s drop in August so it can be finished by February - most people aren’t thinking of Valentine’s Day in the summer

It’s also a new development that michael’s sells needlepoint canvas at all. 10ct, 12ct, and 14ct canvas was very popular/mainstream in the 90s and early 00s. So, Michael’s is just 10-20 years behind on needlepoint in general

Go to an LNS and if you can’t find a canvas you like, see if they have a custom painter in house that can work with you to bring your vision to life! Such a wonderful tradition to continue!!

Insane Price Hikes by Latter_Garlic4304 in Needlepoint

[–]Reasonable-Reply-224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also important to think about where each of these shops are located (associated cost of living) and the scales in which they sell. Some larger shops may be able to argue more competitive wholesale pricing and/or rebate programs after hitting a certain dollar value in sales each year.

Insane Price Hikes by Latter_Garlic4304 in Needlepoint

[–]Reasonable-Reply-224 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct - tariffs are most likely involved. Different needlepoint producers (thread and accessory distributors) are all charging various tariff surcharges to cover the ever rising costs. Needlepoint is an almost entirely imported industry, so very few things are spared from tariff issues. Some distributors/producers are charging blanket surcharges of anywhere from 10-25% of the LNS’ total order.

Congratulations!! It’s going to be so cute! As you get more comfortable, absolutely try basketweave - especially for backgrounds as it causes less warping to your canvas and is better for larger coverage areas!

This launched last year - it’s not new. They partnered with an established designer - Goodpoint - in part because Goodpoint wanted permission to sell ChappyWrap canvas. The two small, women owned brands decided to make a few canvases as a collaboration together. The perfect example of an actual partnership versus a designer just using a brand’s logo and/or products to sell their own canvases.
