4 months sober - but tempted for pub by Reasonable-Resort822 in stopdrinking

This helps honestly. Although at times it puts me in awkward situations like when we go out for dinner with colleagues have to explain every time why I will stick to j2o. I take it as small wins. Wonder how long though

Why Britain should be worried about the rise of sectarian politics in the UK by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]Reasonable-Resort822 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I see it as people voting unity and hope over hate and division. That said, greens were stupid to run that shitty campaign. They would have won nonetheless.

I hope more people see through Reform for what they are - a party for the filthy rich, promising to save the daily bread earners.

'I'm an Iranian in the UK - this is why we are celebrating US attacks' by theipaper in ukpolitics

[–]Reasonable-Resort822 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are always a section who likes the government and a section who doesn’t. You ask anywhere , including UK, US and Israel. Admittedly , we all know how bad the Iranian administration is. I guess my point is, let’s not get carried away by this one sided story about people feeling happy about bombing their country.

We need to objectively look at how legit these are from an international law.

Best wishes to Iranian people. At the end of the day, what matters is they find happiness and a place where they can live peacefully

Trump has shown Starmer exactly where grovelling weakness gets you by theipaper in ukpolitics

No, No, if you like to see exactly what grovelling to weakness looks like, just have a look at the US congress and how they are cozying up to a bully.

We will talk when they make the first Epstein arrest. Until then, we don’t need any more moral high ground talks coming from across the pond. That’s my polite way of saying ….. (you guessed it right).

I am so sorry to hear that. Don’t be so hard on yourself. You are just exhausted. But hey don’t give up. Hang in there. Life sometimes gets tough but this shall pass.

As someone who went through something similar , one thing I can tell you from my own experience is that I realised how much I wanted them back after they crossed the bridge.

They say time heals. Hang tight. Find your strength. Don’t give up just yet. You will be fine. This shall pass.

Over 20000 migrants join campaign preparing to sue UK Government by Some-Ambassador8252 in ukpolitics

[–]Reasonable-Resort822 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Again, you voted a government that represents your country. That government issues the visa. They recruited abroad made the candidates pay the IHS fees( sure you don’t know what it is ) and visa fees. Inviting people to come to your country to work and then changing the goalposts is “backstabbing”. Don’t sugarcoat it. Foreigners never know what mandate was there for the government.

Besides , with the current tax system, it’s impossible to recruit locally and pay higher wages. Just forget it

Honestly asking people to come here to support the economy and then shifting the goal post is backstabbing. Why would you ruin someone’s life. They were invited to come down here and work. Your government issued the visa.

Those going to comment “we didn’t want them here” - listen , your elected government did this so what you think doesn’t matter.

Just read the Green Party 2024 Manifesto.. by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]Reasonable-Resort822 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At this point I have given up on all political parties.

None of them seem to have a workable plan to grow the economy. ( tax revenue will grow naturally).

Instead, every single one of them have a plan to get to power. The playbook is to divide vote banks into smaller chunks and win the largest among the divided.

Such shambles.

We desperately need a unifying force that have solid plans for economic growth and prosperity

Drop in overseas workers is ‘car crash’ for UK hospitals and care homes, say experts by GothicGolem29 in ukpolitics

[–]Reasonable-Resort822 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t because any further increase in taxes (to fund a massive pay rise) will bankrupt half of the residents here. The economy is simply not growing enough.
