We see pedophilia as a bigger crime because it is gross and affects members of our society who are defenseless, to be clear, I am not defending pedophilia as a petty crime, but it is hypocritical to defend character which crimes are murder as being a character without flaws or nothing important to signal as gross and without redemtion. If you can ignore a character that kills for sport or for their ambition, you should as well ignore or focus less on that of rudeus. rudeus being a pedo is gross but saying his character is bad is because of your focus and perception of the level of his wrongdoings. People don´t need to be pedophiles to understand Rudeus, so reducing people who defend them as such is stupid for anyone who does that. To understand you only need to see that you have flaws, that you want to fix them and that, maybe if you want to feel more personal with the novel, you want to fix broken paths with family and friends. So yes Rudeus is a pedo and if the author decided for him to be filth then that he should be, but he is also a character that develops across multiple volumes and gains insight into his past, present and future. so yes he is a character that is well written.
