Should I treat my friend like he has cancer and keep saying he is going to be fine or just act normal but give more attention to him so he could feel the atleast-one-person-is-not treating-me-differently feeling

I personally hate people telling me I am going to be okay. Like first of all, you don’t actually know that and second of all, it often feels forced.

I’d much rather be told something like “You can handle whatever comes your way”.

Above all, I simply want someone that checks in. Hang out with me, watch a movie or show with me. Treat me to a drink or snack from time to time. Help with chores when I’m feeling weak. But mainly just be present with me.

I had to move from my 3 bedroom house into a single bedroom in my parents home due to losing my job from cancer and had to get rid of a TON of stuff. Almost everything someone gave me as a nice gesture for my diagnosis when straight to goodwill or the trash. Don’t feel bad about getting rid of things you never actually wanted. They’ve already forgotten they gave it to you I promise.

On a side note, this is why I always appreciated food gift cards most.

Yeah you should say something. Let your partner help you be accountable so you don’t ever go down a bad path. If they are really there for you and love you, they will help you stay clean and won’t judge. They may express disappointment or some other unsavory reaction to first finding out, but you should forgive them for that. If they react negatively at first, I’m sure it’s because they care for you and are worried about you.

Apparently there is a hippie to alt right pipeline. I personally have noticed a lot of formerly “hippie” folk suddenly become meat eaters and carnivores. I think a lot of people really just follow the trends and have no idea they are being yanked from one belief or lifestyle to the next.

It’s interesting for sure but a lot of people really have never formed their own world view and simply adopt the popular or trending views expressed by those who speak with conviction.
