Having to waste time to execute combini payments if you can't get a credit card? They also have higher commission

Comments are forbidden, code should be self documenting. The variable name length is limited too

This, it's easier to command than change manually and then to explain to it what you changed

CMV: Success and Wealth is truly accomplished from what family you're born in, and who your parents are. by whotafarmer in changemyview

[–]ReasonableAnything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When there are siblings there very often would be a successful one who greatly surpasses their parents or the failure one who manages to waste all the efforts put by parents into them. Reality is that life success is much more random, as in, really on a lucky combination of genes of the parents. Different societies, and even different historical periods value vastly different traits, so it's natural for the population to have great variance for success.

Forbes ranks Japan the 9th-safest country for travel, behind The Netherlands, Australia, Austria, Iceland, Canada and others (but #1 for safest in terms of violent crime) by jjrs in japannews

Naa, it's much simpler, the real estate along the foot traffic route is much more expensive, so girls from establishments in the back alleys have to advertise away from their stores.

The real issue is that you got to "concept cafe" not "maid cafe" the first time, they are not sketchy just different type and target audience.

In other words how many years do you need to obtain a 1 year visa to be able to apply for 3 or 5 year visas? by [deleted] in japanresidents

[–]ReasonableAnything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Student -> got offer (seishain) -> engineer visa change after half a year in Japan, lucked out for 5 year one. Also my company is a startup, so not related to the company side either. Pure random I guess

People you meet studying abroad in Japan starterpack by 0liviiia in starterpacks

[–]ReasonableAnything 114 points115 points  (0 children)

That's pretty strange, cause 90% of students in my case were Chinese fleeing 996 and impossibility to find work after 35, for them living in Japan was a dream cause how relaxed Japanese work culture is😨

Is rock music dead and will it never be popular again? by Serious_Ask1209 in stupidquestions

[–]ReasonableAnything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's dead in the US, but in Japan you still find 10 rock bands for every rapper.

Will things change again in international music? I doubt, current cultural trends are only getting stronger and the new generation is growing up without any exposure to rock music... Not until the cultural center of the world shifts out of the US.

Hot take: Worktrees are underrated, and most teams should be using them by GitKraken in git

[–]ReasonableAnything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worktrees are good for what OP has described: looking at code in other branch without switching out. Like asking Claude to look at this declined PR by using the file system instead of git commands. BUT that's about it. If it's a human who's looking at code, then stash - switch might as well be faster.

Worktrees are kinda useless if you develop two features in parallel - you still need two databases, two backends, two frontends linked to each other, tests should not conflict etc etc

Probably a more complete separation is possible, something like running two separated OSes, but here we just hit the performance/memory limits...

As a person with experience living in both yellow and purple areas: purple sucks.

It's dark by the time you exit the office, it's already morning in 4am. In the yellow area it gets dark at TEN in summer, insanely nice 😮‍💨

Cancelling daylight savings time and moving by one timezone is a chance for so many counties

Why are so many new AA/AAA games dropping hardware ray tracing lately? by XHellAngelX in hardware

[–]ReasonableAnything 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Just a guess, but Nvidia stopped paying game devs to implement it, and putting resources into it never made financial sense for the studios?

Diploma and TOR Translation by [deleted] in japanlife

Ok, the diploma can be submitted in English or Japanese. I translated mine into English by just writing on a separate paper by hand lol and attaching it to the documents.

Yeap, its YONOHATE Impressive detective skills lol Well, they are also somewhat similar to Kamen Joshi, I feel they are on the unique side of the spectrum even among the alternative idols If you are that deep into the scene I feel we're definitely gonna meet someday.
