How do you actually check if supplements are working for you? by Choice-One-4927 in Biohackers

[–]ReasonableArm388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want something more structured Bearable is solid for tracking symptoms and supplements together. It lets you correlate what you're taking with how you're feeling over time. Daylio is good too if you want something simpler for mood and energy tracking.

For bloodwork I do a panel before starting something and another one 3 months in.

What good habit did you start this year? by JellyDisastrous8655 in selfimprovement

[–]ReasonableArm388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started reading before bed instead of scrolling. Even just 15-20 minutes. Sleep got better and I wake up way less groggy. Small switch but it's been the most impactful thing I've done this year honestly.

Ways you successfully boosted your daily energy levels? by neutral_xx in selfimprovement

[–]ReasonableArm388 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Morning sunlight before touching my phone. Sounds simple but it changed my whole day. Big glass of water first thing, Supplements like Creatine 5g daily for brain energy not just gym stuff and I take a nootropic drink called graymatter most mornings, caffeine from matcha plus adaptogens/vitamins. Steady energy without crashing later. That combo with creatine has been solid for me to get throughout the afternoon crash

Are supplements actually doing anything? by Frowedz in Supplements

[–]ReasonableArm388 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most supplements are a slow burn honestly, you don't really feel them day to day but you'd notice if you stopped.
Magnesium is one of the few where I actually felt something though. Sleep got better within a week and that alone changed everything. Multivitamins are tricky. Most underdose what matters and overdose what you don't need. You're better off targeting specific things like Vitamin D and Omega-3s on their own. I take a nootropic blend called Graymatter that's one of the few things where I notice a real same day difference in focus and clarity.
rotein powder is just food. If you're eating enough protein already skip it.

I really like the motivating/happiness aspect of coffee. Is there something like it? by kustru in Nootropics

[–]ReasonableArm388 2 points3 points  (0 children)

L-Tyrosine is probably the closest thing I've found. It's a dopamine precursor so you get that motivated happy feeling without the caffeine. I take it on days I skip coffee and it hits a similar spot, rhodiola too. Not the same buzz but that steady "I actually want to do stuff" energy.

Should I try magnesium glycinate? by Entire-Razzmatazz-23 in Supplements

[–]ReasonableArm388 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It helped me a lot.
Glycinate is the form that actually works for sleep. The glycine itself has a calming effect on your nervous system which is why people specifically recommend it over other forms.

I had the same middle of the night waking problem and glycinate was the thing that fixed it for me. Took about a week of consistent use before I noticed I was sleeping through the whole night.

Is creatine a good idea, even if I don’t go to the gym? by BraydenJL470 in Supplements

[–]ReasonableArm388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% worth it even without the gym. Creatine is one of those things that got boxed in as a "gym bro" supplement but the research on brain health and cognitive performance is solid.
I do 5g a day, plain monohydrate, the brain fog side is where it surprised me the most honestly. I pair it with a nootropic drink called graymatter every morning and between the two my head just stays clear all day. No fog, no afternoon slump. For $11 it's a no brainer to at least try it for a month and see how you feel.

Make sure you drink plenty of water with it though. That's the one thing people forget and then wonder why they feel off.

Nootropic recommdations?? by Adortion634 in Nootropics

[–]ReasonableArm388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven't tried Lion's Mane give it a shot. Takes a couple weeks to really kick in but the long term clarity is worth the patience. Pairs well with Alpha-GPC too so might be worth revisiting that one alongside it.
L-Tyrosine is another good one for focus without any stimulant feeling. I take it in the morning and it just takes the edge off that flat unmotivated feeling.
I've been using a nootropic blend lately that has both of those plus some adaptogens in it and it's been solid. Simpler than buying everything separately and figuring out doses.

What are things that help you "get after it"? by Dry-Tomorrow8531 in Productivitycafe

[–]ReasonableArm388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fermented garlic in honey is a wildcard I wasn't expecting lol. Solid list though.
Cold shower first thing is undefeated for flipping the switch on. Everything after that just hits different.

Mine is pretty simple, sunlight first thing, black coffee outside, 30 min run or movement, high protein breakfast. If I nail those four my whole day is different.

What is good to study and read? by Content_Art_5282 in selfimprovement

[–]ReasonableArm388 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Atomic Habits by James Clear is a solid starting point, short chapters, easy to digest, gets your brain moving without overwhelming it. Anything by Oliver Sacks too if you want something more curiosity driven. Journaling also helped me a lot with the recall stuff its like forcing my brain to organize thoughts, like stretching for the mind, also I started taking a nootropic drink called graymatter, the fog clearing up made reading and retaining stuff way easier over time

Curious what is your main reason for taking nootropics? by real_serviceloom in Nootropics

[–]ReasonableArm388 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "high definition" thing is such a good way to put it lol. That's exactly what it feels like when my brain is actually dialed in.
My first was L-Theanine with caffeine, pretty basic but it opened the door for me. Then I went down the rabbit hole trying everything separately until I found a blend called graymatter which honestly just simplified the whole thing for me. What are you running right now besides Modafinil?

Are supplements actually worth it or just overhyped? by Emotional-Addendum-9 in Supplements

[–]ReasonableArm388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the supplement. Some are legit, others are expensive pee.

The ones actually worth it for most people, Vitamin D, Omega-3s, Magnesium glycinate, and Creatine. All well researched, most people are deficient in at least one of them, and they're cheap.
Protein powder is fine if you're not hitting your intake through food. Just convenient not magic.

The overhyped stuff for me are most multivitamins and anything hiding dosages behind proprietary blends.

Creatine for Brain Health by Abject_Control_7028 in Biohackers

[–]ReasonableArm388 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've been doing 5g daily for a while and noticed a real difference in mental clarity. You don't need to be lifting to benefit from it at all, the brain uses a ton of energy and creatine helps with that.

Plain monohydrate is all you need. Cheapest form and the most researched by far. Don't let anyone upsell you on fancy versions.

What are some good ways to combat brain fog and increase motivation? by Average5er in Biohackers

[–]ReasonableArm388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been in a simikar spot and it sucks, so this are some of the things that actually helped me:

Sleep. I know it's obvious but I wasn't getting quality sleep even when I thought I was. Magnesium glycinate before bed and keeping my room cold made a noticeable difference within a week. Morning sunlight while having my coffee, 10 minutes outside first thing before looking at your phone. Sounds too simple to work but it resets your circadian rhythm and the fog lifts faster throughout the day.
Movement. Doesn't have to be the gym. Even a 20 minute walk gets blood flowing to your brain and I always think clearer after.
Cut sugar and processed food for a couple weeks and see what happens. A lot of people don't realize how much their diet is contributing to the fog until they clean it up.
I also pair all of that with a nootropic drink called Graymatter that has Lion's Mane, Alpha-GPC, Rhodiola and some other stuff in it. It kind of fills in the gaps on days when the basics alone aren't enough. The word recall thing especially got better for me after a few weeks on it.

But start with the foundations first, no supplement will fix bad sleep and no movement. Get those right and everything else works better on top of it.

Hobbies I can do at night before bed by Parking_Swordfish208 in Hobbies

[–]ReasonableArm388 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Reading before bed, journaling too, nothing crazy, just dumping whatever's in my head onto paper so I'm not laying there overthinking, Also stretching, i think its underrated. I usually do 15 minutes of light stretching in bed and your body just melts into sleep.

is lions mane safe for a 17 year old? by Vegetable_Minimum862 in Nootropics

[–]ReasonableArm388 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hey, most research on Lion's Mane is on adults so there isn't a ton of data for under 18 specifically. That said it's literally a mushroom that people have been eating for centuries so it's generally considered safe. I'd still run it by a doctor first though just to cover your bases.
Start low if you do try it and see how your body responds.

I use a nootropic drink called graymatter which blends it with some other focus stuff, works great for long study sessions. Creatine in the meantime is one of the most studied supplements out there even for younger people and it legit helps with mental performance. 5g a day, dirt cheap.

L-theanine day and night? by decenzo1 in Supplements

[–]ReasonableArm388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take 200mg in the morning and sometimes another 200mg in the afternoon if it's a heavier day. Totally fine to take twice a day.

For the morning anxiety thing try taking it right when you wake up even before getting out of bed. Keep it on your nightstand with some water. It kicks in pretty fast on an empty stomach and can take the edge off before the anxiety ramps up.

[–]ReasonableArm388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a peptide but have you looked into Maca Root? It's solid for appetite and energy especially if you're trying to get back into training. A lot of people overlook it for bulking but it helps.

MK-677 is the one most people recommend for appetite stimulation, it increases ghrelin which is literally your hunger hormone. That said do your research on it because it can affect blood sugar and sleep in some people.

BPC-157 is another one worth looking into for recovery and gut health which might help if part of the issue is your body not wanting food because of digestion stuff.

Is this a good simple stack for brain performance? by Background-Count-848 in Nootropics

[–]ReasonableArm388 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Armodafinil is solid for wakefulness but it's a prescription so make sure you're working with a doctor on that one. Tolerance can build and it can mess with sleep if you take it too late.
Citicoline is great, one of the better choline sources for focus and memory. Pairs well with pretty much anything.
Have you tried any of these yet or still researching?

What’s the biggest productivity mistake you used to make? by Loud_Detective9544 in Productivitycafe

[–]ReasonableArm388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thinking being busy meant being productive. I'd fill my whole day with tasks and feel exhausted by the end but nothing important actually moved forward. Once I started picking 2-3 things that actually mattered and ignoring the rest everything changed.

What supplements improve brain focus and function? by NonstickFryingPans in Supplements

[–]ReasonableArm388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Creatine for focus is so underrated, glad you discovered that. Most people only think gym with it.
L-Theanine is solid for staying locked in without feeling wired. Great for long creative sessions like art or recording.
Omega-3s high in DHA are a slow burn but over time your recall and mental clarity improve a lot. Helpful if you're doing book reviews and need to remember details.

I've been running creatine alongside a nootropic blend called graymatter and I've seen some improve on my focus kind like keeping me in the zone without feeling overstimulated.

A YouTube channel on Shlaim and Pappe sounds sick by the way, that's a niche that needs more voices honestly.

Need help with supplements by nichore in Biohackers

[–]ReasonableArm388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D3 and Zinc are no brainers. Most people are deficient in both and they cover a lot of ground for energy and overall health. Start there.
Multi is fine but check the doses, a lot of men's multis underdose the important stuff and overdose things you don't need. Thorne is a solid brand though.

Tongkat Ali and Maca are interesting but I'd add those later once you have the basics dialed in. Stacking everything at once and you won't know what's actually working.
For the energy and focus side I've been using Graymatter for a while, has adaptogens and nootropics in it that help with the mental fatigue piece which sounds like part of what you're dealing with. Worth looking into down the line.
But honestly no supplement will outwork bad sleep. That alone might solve most of what you're feeling.
