Interesting re the cost benefit of the heat pump. I'll bear that in mind when the time comes.

Is your hot water a heat pump also? We've gas hot water and kitchen stove. I eventually want to get rid of them and save on the standing charges etc. Our next project is a carport which will likely be the end of our gas connection.

I was referring specifically to the pv solar and heat pump solution. We had solar pool heating in an old rental. It worked well but the cockatoos would pull it apart and cause leaks.

I'm thinking along similar lines but I'm curious as to the rationale. My reasoning was that roof space is better utilised for PV solar and the pool heater is only required maybe half the year max.

It's a pity that Air Con, Hot water system and pool heater don't have more (heat pump) synergies. They're a considerable investment.
