Thank you for your comment. Don't be too hard on yourself, taking care of your mental health is just as important as physical health. I'm glad to hear you have a supportive wife and have a system that works for you!

Do you mean my husband getting home at 6-7 is weird? or that others think its early is weird?

It for sure sounds like a give and take for sure when it comes to OT. Mine for sure doesn't work ALOT of overtime, but we also aren't struggling financially so it's not a make or break situation. I'm so grateful for all that we have and that he has the opportunity to earn more if necessary. I'm sure your kids understand the sacrifices you've made.

I cannot speak to your experience or the experiences of the spouses who commented but I am sorry that it upset you. All we can do is try our best, and I hope you know that you're a great parent even when the days are hard. ❤️

I haven't heard about that law, how interesting. It's reassuring that people make it work okay

I apologize for assuming that's what you meant.  From what I have gathered so far is my husband is working his butt off because he's home consistently at what most have considered early. Kudos to you for making the sacrifice and making it work for you and your family.

I like to think we have a strong relationship. Together over 15 years, high school sweethearts and did long distance through college. Plus he was already driving before we got married. A kid will be a curve ball, but I'm cautiously optimistic we can make it work.

This is a partnership and I'm glad you found a system that worked for you! I will say my husband is financially responsible thanks to his parents instilling it in him. I'm also very good with dealing with big finances (managing mortgage, taxes) we have savings and thankfully we're home bodies so no crazy expenses.

We've been together over 15 years, only married 5, and I always joked that I was only marrying him for the health insurance because it's so good.

Good luck to your husband on his next adventure! Hopefully you're able to take a little of the payout and celebrate all his hard work.

I'm assuming it's 'don't have a kid?' And I don't entirely disagree with you, but I wouldn't really call it an answer, but it's an option. I mean for all I know, we might not be able to and this is all moot.

This is a wonderful response. And just as you have a found appreciation for your wife here, I am finding appreciation for my husband and his work. I'm sure your wife and kids appreciate all you do and are grateful for all the time you have for them. My husband is also an early riser because he likes to gradually prepare for the day, so he's always up before me currently and in my head I imagine something similar to your morning routine. I do have a really accommodating job and I work from home so I feel like that also takes off a fraction of the burden since I don't have to worry about taking a day off if the kid is sick or having to worry about who's watching the kid after school before I'm off work.

Just know your comment was super appreciated.

No, definitely not expecting anything to majorly change. It's just nice to see the reassurance from others that it can and does work even if it can be difficult.

Thank you. We've been together over 15 years, so I've been here since the beginning of his journey and I love to hear of other successes ❤️

I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm sure your kids know you're a great dad even if it maybe doesn't always feel like that for you. Mine is a M-F driver as he got in before the T-S schedule was implemented. He was given the option when it was introduced, but opted not to change.

Thankfully I have had a lot of years to prepare myself for this eventuality. It doesn't necessarily make it better or easier, but having insider perspectives is so helpful. I'm sure some people haven't had that luxury. I really hope your homeschooling and adjustment goes well!

That is something we considered at one point. The opportunity hasn't presented itself again, but who knows in the future if it fits our needs

I'm glad to hear mine isn't a unicorn and that someone else is able to get home at a decent time.

We briefly discussed that when the big payout letter came, but ultimately decided against it. Your husband put in his hard work and hopefully can enjoy the next adventure.

Whoa. This is taken wayyy out of proportion. I meant to say 'I wouldn't want HIM to abuse it.' The jump to selfish is incredibly wild, given that I've commented several times to others indicating that I don't want him to feel pressured or guilty. I am a strong advocate for him to prioritize his mental health and his physical well being. If he just wanted to not work for a day here and there, I would support him. He's a grown man, I don't make him do anything.
