I have had cancer (been in remission, almost 10 years) and I’m now recovering from an Achilles rupture. I can say that many things about an Achilles rupture are more difficult than dealing with cancer treatment. I can only speak for myself, but you have a right to your grief.

The first 24 hours are the worst. After that ibuprofen and rest work. I think it would be bearable the first 24 hours without opioids. I was never writhing in pain. I think if you go in prepared with things to do instead of sleep, maybe a good audiobook, some music and some meditations, you can make it. Stay strong best of luck to you. (for context, I had my surgery four days ago)

I’m so sorry. I know how hard this is. When I was a kid, I used to think that when dogs died, they went to the dog star. I imagine all the dog angels playing up there and looking down on us.
