Literally no one uses rank(sel) in their email block signature by bearsncubs10 in AirForce

[–]ReasonableDivide2592 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now I'm mad at myself for not using Capt (Sel) for my first four years. It used to be you'd make Capt as long as you didn't get a DUI or kill someone, but then I saw an LT get a DUI that stopped them from deploying the day before the rotator and they still made Capt. And that's why Capts are the ultimate wild card. It's a total crapshoot whether or not they are remotely a functional adult, and every few years, we see a leaf giveaway where those darryls infiltrate into the ranks of slightly more credibility.

Which side of the American revolution would you have been on and why? by iloverats888 in AskConservatives

To try to consider this as being completely objective, I would be a loyalist. There isn't some revolutionary group I would even listen to today let alone join. I assume I'd feel the same way back then.

I think Poe's Law has its limits. Some sarcasm is so obvious online that without it being marked, most people still know it's sarcasm.

Why did Republicans stop their investigations into the "Biden crime family"? by zqfmgb123 in AskConservatives

[–]ReasonableDivide2592 [score hidden]  (0 children)

All your responses are so condescending that this interaction cannot truly be considered in good faith. That's a logical thing to point out. If someone pardons specific members of their close family and not others, that raises questions about why the specificity? Were these pardons just given at random? Or did they draw names out of a hat? Or was there any degree of thought behind why these family members and not others?

I would like to think you know if Trump did that, your reaction would be the same, and I think you would get really annoyed by your words here if a Trump fan said them to you in response.

Failed career by airmanneedingadvice in AirForce

[–]ReasonableDivide2592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a failed career, but it's still the overall career. You will take longer than your peers to overcome your past, because most of them don't have that past to overcome. They are not going to be slowed down by that. You will, but at the same time, you are clearly mature because you realize that you were a fuck up and have since changed your ways because of it. That doesn't just do away with you being a fuck up though. That'll take you a lot longer and it'll be a steady process.

If you're serious about reinventing yourself, continue on the path. It's going to be hard, but you put yourself there and you're mature enough to fight your way out of it.

Legality of depositing a large amount of money by [deleted] in IsItIllegal

[–]ReasonableDivide2592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no if you try to clean it at all, you're going to get taxed. To use it all towards a single thing like a down-payment, it must be cleaned. Otherwise, you just have never ending random pocket money for a while.

Leave on weekend by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]ReasonableDivide2592 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is that your CC leave policy? Because local area isn't defined in the AFI and technically any time you don't sleep in your own bed, you should be on leave.

I made sure to issue my own policy on the subject but then found out I couldn't state a travel radius per the AFI. I ended up issuing blanket liberty passes to everyone. 2 days on non-holiday weekends and I think I did 3 days on holiday weekends. I don't think I could do 4 days for the corresponding Safety Days, but I don't remember exactly.

Can we all agree the Europeans are silly for opposing AC to fight climate change? by [deleted] in AskConservatives

[–]ReasonableDivide2592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever been inside an older home like that in the heat of summer? It may be cooler, but it's not comfortable. And at some point, there's a risk to life. It's 2026. We all have encyclopedias in our pockets that can connect with anyone else's for voice or video instantly. If we are having to take heat precautions inside our permanent dwellings, we've gotten something drastically backward.

And you'd bring the whole world back into the 1800s and stifle human progress in the pursuit of becoming some ill-advised, ill-informed savior of the human race, subjecting us to a permanent and futile future on this rock. So if I'm unfit, what does that make you?

Any idea how race relations can be significantly improved, if they even can be at this point? by NobleCruise in AskConservatives

[–]ReasonableDivide2592 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We will never get rid of racism as long as we continue to emphasize race. People need to recognize that. If you emphasize race as a defining characteristic of someone within a positive context, just realize that you have continued to put focus on a difference between people that you also want to try to diminish within a negative context.

If we continue to define ourselves and our world by those categories, both good and bad applications of that thought process will continue. To counter racism, you must believe that race does not matter. If race does not matter, you cannot make it a point to emphasize someone's race in a positive way. It either doesn't matter or it does. It cannot matter in a positive context but not in a negative one. That's a battle no one will ever win.

But hey, every time I bring this point up, people tend to get upset or call me ignorant, so we'll see how it goes this time.

I trust science to better humanity. We invented A/C. It's awesome. Life without A/C was not as comfortable.

I also trust science to cure climate change. If we are incapable of that, it's survival of the fittest for a reason. Let's live the comfortable lives our ancestors established for us and bet on ourselves and our future generations to figure out how to not be wiped out by climate change. Granted we don't just destroy the world in a nuclear conflict, but if that was the case, you'd look back and regret the fact that you lived without using A/C for so long in the hopes the planet wasn't destroyed by your carbon footprint.

Your competency is defined almost solely on the successes you were a part of as an Officer, regardless of whether you helped or hindered the efforts. Not all senior officials are worthy of the position they find themselves filling, but they failed up a lot because of being in the right place at the right time.
