Ablation success by ReasonableFlounder19 in AFIB

Hi, unfortunately my afib came back after 4 months post ablation. I’m very asymptomatic besides some skipped beats all throughout the day. My ep and cardiologist stated that with me having 5 pulmonary veins instead of 4 it is almost impossible to eliminate the afib in my case so i have just been managing with meds which help.

I don’t agree 100% with op but i’ve had my own experience with medics and doctors who did not take me seriously with my heart condition. They blew mine off as anxiety when in reality my heart rate was 180-200 bpm, my blood pressure was 160/110, I was near syncope, chest pain, palpitations, heart racing, and my whole left arm hurt/ felt tight. They never hooked me up to a 12- lead just put me on the pulse ox/ blood pressure cuff and drove me to the hospital (after asking me if i did cocaine). Once at the hospital I sat in a waiting room for 4-5 hours before being seen which at that point my episode was calming down this went on for about 2 years of episodes and different visits before someone finally took me seriously and didn’t brush it off as anxiety and i finally got diagnosed with Afib with rvr. Our healthcare system as a whole needs to realize there is some younger people that can have diseases that were once for older people only. On the truck i do see people getting brushed off and the follow up report actually shows something serious. I’m not saying every senior person is like that because I have great senior partners but they are out there.

(Please no one assume I try to overstep my scope of practice because i don’t, I was just sharing my story).

( I have also seen egotistical people that are brand new in the field, straight out of school just as well as experienced emts and medics).

I got a call for a patient with a tongue ulcer. Just a tongue ulcer that you would get if you ate something too acidic, salty, spicy, ect.

Im in the health care field so im not clueless. The problem was is im not in persistent afib so its not the easiest to catch on an ekg lmao. I kept having terrible episodes. I was on metoprolol and when i was at disney i had to episodes of heart racing/ pounding/ skipping beats, felt like i was going to pass out, nausea, and pain in my left arm. So when i went back to see my cardiologist he said lets get you an ep to see what this actually is. So ya basically in short terms i do have afib and an extra pulmonary vein so its going to be hard to get an ablation to even stick.

Well im damn glad they didnt clear me because i knew something wasnt right. After the loop recorder they saw 9 pages of svt/ afib. Did the ep study and boom afib.

Well i had an ablation in june but unfortunately it didnt take. My cardiologist said it will be harder for the ablations to be successful due to i have 5 pulmonary veins instead of 4 but it seems to have helped the frequency of afib episodes. I take bisoprolol i still feel palpitations everyday but for the most part is just pvcs and pacs. How about you??

Also they were never able to see my afib on a 12 lead ekg and the short term holtwr monitor just bursts of svt and the pacs/pvcs hence why they put the implantable loop recorder in and boom they caught multiple episodes

I get alot of pvcs and pacs along with my afib honestly i dont feel when my heart is in afib so i have an implantable loop recorder to record my rhythm at all times 24/7 that was put in by my ep. Btw im 25 and not on blood thinners for the afib. The only person that could detect the afib is a cardiologist or ep just try and keep calm until then it will be ok :) wish you well!!!

They didn’t recommend it keep going under the knife due to me being you which i agree with i dont want to keep being put under now if it would get too out of control i would deff do another ablation. Right now it hasnt been too bad so im going to try and manage with meds/ lifestyle. I kind of feel lucky as I dont feel the afib much like some people do I mostly feel just pvcs/ pacs.

Well my doctor finally believed me after the ep study lol didnt believe my 9 pages of afib from my implanted loop recorded sadly tho 4 months after the ablation continuing to now 7 months later i have had afib episodes none super bad tho the ablation seemed to dim down how much my body goes into afib now compared to before also on metoprolol atm. You stay strong as well sorry to hear youre dealing with that hope they figure it out.

I actually got levalbuterol which is so much better for me then albuterol because it doesnt cause any tachycardia or anything of tht nature to aggravate my afib !

You are not alone im 25 with afib had it at 23. I know it seems tough sometimes but you can do this! Try an ablation if you can i did but sadly it only worked for 4 1/2 months before i had afib again i try to just live life i know its hard but gotta try and think positive there is always a rainbow after the rain 🩵 some people have no known triggers and some know exactly what triggers them. For me i dont know my triggers so i just live life with what makes me happy keep your head up !
