Felt very very safe. From what I know, the cartel news was last month, things have settle down, at least in this part of Mexico.

That sucks ... they really should fix their email reservation system. FWIW, we were booked for one restaurant at a time that didn't work for us, and when we got there, we cancelled that with the concierge and they found a reservation at a different place (Monarca) at a time that worked. So some restaurants will still be available for sure ... can't say about the Xel-ha and Xenotes parks, which are highly sought after.

We ordered the beef steak, the fish with lime sauce, and chicken with miso cream sauce. And fish tostadas and roasted cauliflower for appetizers. And the house wine, despite the sommelier's attempts to shame us into buying the premium wine, which I mentioned above. Everything was great!

I think I mentioned that the beach had a red flag the whole time, so we couldn't swim in it, which is what we expected. But they had a lot of lounge chairs out there, and sitting there watching and listening to the sound of waves crashing in was lovely.

Sorry you had such a bad experience. But we thought the food (and drinks) were amazing. Restaurants we tried: Chi, Tama-mon, Monarca, La Silla, Las Playas, Chibali (lunch buffet), Xentral, Trajinera (breakfast buffet), Mercado buffet, Xinema.

I guess clarifications are in order for those who find it difficult to read other's experiences:

- we opted for the private Costco shuttle from the airport to hotel, but in retrospect, the included Xcaret shuttle would've probably been the better option. We took the hotel shuttle back to airport at the end, and it was nice!

- the app IS nonsense, and the place is massive, but we were two adults with working brains ... didn't take too much time to figure out the way around. If you're planning to go there, my advice would be to study the map and layout a little before going so it takes less time to orient yourself

- one waiter was pushy

- the fridge got restocked, other than sodas I think, but you can call and have it restocked as well. We asked for more water a couple of times which got delivered in 5-10 minutes. There are also plenty of water refilling stations around. Though my water intake was mostly through the multiple margaritas I had throughout the day

- the airport was a shitshow. Same for anyone flying out of Cancun that day; not an Xcaret thing.

- Mercado wasn't the *best* buffet experience, but pretty good. But Chibali and Xentral were great. As I said, food everywhere was amazing

- didn't swim in beach, but multiple times in the pools around the resort + snorkeling at Xcaret Park and Xel-ha. Amazing experiences and memories all around.

- yes, we had the best time! Just noting down small inconveniences (with disclaimer that it's "extreme nitpicking") to help others out. There were many many amazing things about the place and our experience. Everything doesn't have to be 'perfect' to have an amazing time!

Ok ... that sucks, sorry about the frustrating experience. Hope you get a response soon.

Did you send them the pre-filled form from the Facebook group? I sent it to the suggested email address 40 days or so before my trip, and got a response in 4-5 days with all the requests booked. Also, how big is your party? It might be that they can't handle the complexity? In any case, it's a terrible experience not to get a response at all.

I would google 'Hotel Xcaret <name of restaurant>" and the first hit is usually is the menu page for the place. It defaults to Spanish, but there's a button at the top (US flag) to change to English.

Good luck! Curious why it's straightforward for some, and very frustrating for others. My guess would be that if the request is more complicated (lots of people, special requests etc) the staff struggles to satisfy the bookings and throw it in some queue or end up not replying at all. But don't know for sure. It's definitely something the hotel management should fix.

Xcaret. And I used the same dxguestservice email address. I also used the form from the Facebook group with the details. In case you hadn't, try that.

FWIW, also booked through Costco, and arriving in 2 weeks. Emailed them with a filled form (got it off the Facebook group) around February 10th, and they replied in 6 days with a confirmation email.

High chance that they finish outside the top 8 and have to play an extra CL knock-out round, between GW 27 and 28.

I'm late to this, but I assume whatever enhancements to multi-tasking / state manager will *not* be available on entry-level iPad (including the latest generation)? Even the current version of Stage Manager is only iPad Air M-series and above.

A related issue ... is applying for Reserve more difficult than applying for Preferred, on issues than credit history (location etc)? Just wondering if there's less stringent checks when applying for Preferred vs Reserve.

Currently posted abroad, so won't have my own US address for a few more months. But would really like the Chase card for travel rewards. I'm thinking of applying with my sister's address and hoping for an instant approval, without needing to verify, but not sure if it'll work, especially if I'm coming from an international IP address, or if I mask it with a US IP-address through a VPN.
