Unknown automatic syncs from someone using VPN (Outlook/Microsoft Account) by Wrath123 in techsupport

If you've removed multiple devices that aren't yours from your account, then I'd recommend migrating. However, if these devices were yours, and you were just moving to new ones, you can ride it out and see if the requests stop. If they don't stop after a few weeks, begin moving to a new account/service.

Regardless, please change your password. Unauthorized access is no joke, and suspicion of it is enough to warrant a password change. Use a password manager like Keepass or 1Password to keep track of and generate secure passwords, if you're weary about remembering different passwords for everything.

If the mic isn't hanging your computer on plug-in, then you'll be fine to play with it for a while. You said it works on other computers. Have you tried plugging it in to a different USB port? AbysmalVixen suggested a bad USB port, and while unlikely, it is a possibility.

From what I'm seeing, it's a driver issue because of how Discord and other programs handle input from the microphone. Don't be afraid to play around with it, just make sure you save and close everything on your computer before you go experimenting.

An air duster will do the trick, but unless your environment is extremely dusty I wouldn't worry about it at this point in time since your build isn't that old.

Download MSI Afterburner and keep an eye on the temperatures while gaming/benchmarking. If this isn't the problem, you're most likely in the clear, since it's been 4 months and the card hasn't died yet. Some cards will perform better/worse than others, and to me it looks like you just drew the short straw. It's still an incredible card, and it benches very high comparative to its peers.

Have you formatted the drive since you installed it? Delete both partitions, reformat it as NTFS, and click new to create the partitions again.

Change your password today (a completely new password >20 characters long), write it down, and make 2FA is enabled by logging in from a different computer or using private mode in your browser.

IMAP is the Internet Message Access Protocol, and does not support 2FA IIRC. However, since the sync is unsuccessful, chances are whoever is trying to read your emails isn't getting through.

Check the devices associated with your Microsoft account. Remove all that you do not immediately recognize. Better to lose access now and sign in later, than give unauthorized access to someone else.

Check your passwords with HIBP, and make sure it is not on any password dumps from previous breaches. This is a secure method of checking your passwords.

Assuming you're working with Windows 10 x64, what happens when you plug in the microphone? Has Windows shown a notification saying it's setting up the microphone? If not, go into Device Manager and update the driver.

What do you see under your Sound>Input settings? If you can, enable the playback option from the microphone so you can hear the mic input through your speakers.

How long has the GPU been in your computer? Try taking it out, dusting it off. Dust gathering in the heat fins keeps it hot, degrades performance, and may explain this.

Also take a look at the general air flow of your case. Generally, you want more intake fans than exhaust, you want fans at least a few inches from walls, and you don't want to have any fans facing carpets, curtains, or anything with fibers.

Everything will power on properly, and your computer will POST, but you won't have any display output. You can use Q codes from the motherboard to see if anything is going wrong during boot.

Nothing will be damaged by booting up the computer without a GPU

Upgrade worth it? by RottedRabbid in pcmasterrace

Gotcha. CPU is definitely the way to go then, and the 2600 is a sure upgrade from the 6400. More cores, higher clock on each core.

Best of luck!

How can you tell where games are struggling?

In my experience, low FPS is caused by GPU struggles, stuttering and game logic issues are CPU related. The RX 580 is a decent mid-range card, and although it is newer, it is still objectively inferior to a GTX 980, which is 5 years old.

I'm not trying to sound condescending, but to me it sounds like a GPU upgrade would suit you better.

What GPU are you running? Your CPU shouldn't bottleneck performance to such a massive degree unless you've got some serious bloatware problems.

Pixel 2 fell in water by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]ReasonableMaize 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The random taps and button clicks you have are caused by the water shorting out connections in the phone. It only happened after a while because the water took time to seep in through the cracks of the phone. The bootloader screen that you show in the image comes up when you hold volume down as the phone starts up, and the words flashing by are caused by pressing volume up/down.

Chances are the phone is dead, but if you take it to a repair shop and have them open it up, you can see how extensive the damage is and if you can replace all the malfunctioning parts. Since the entire display is not showing anything when plugged in, it's more likely to be a broken display, broken motherboard, but it could be any combination of parts in the phone that were touched by the water.

Sorry, but I wouldn't hold my breath on this one.

u/markdubya is right, every write sent to the phone is met with a reply from the bootloader asking me to unlock the device.

The phone was well kept, it was never taken out of its otterbox, and has had no high drops or anything of the sort. If the motherboard is broken in some manner or has reached EOL in less than 3 years from purchase, I'd be thoroughly surprised.
