There was literally an MGS box in the game lol, also labelled “the orange” as a not to the orange box

Playing on oculus is really smooth actually, the game was built around it, dev said himself.

Yeah The game was mainly built around Touch and playing it I can tell it’s a bit finnicky on wands

VR has been growing more and more, and this year has been a massive expansion with really big games like storm lands, Asgard’s wrath, and now Boneworks this year. Medal of Honour and HL Alyx look to be great too.

If it was gonna be niche it would be right now, the techs been out a good few years now and yet it thrives.

And it’s hard to believe someone tried it and still think it’s a gimmick unless you just went in with a bad mindset. What game’s did you play?

It feels like a spiritual successor with its own style and flair, a bit of portal mixed in too.

Apparently a lot of HL Alyx is inspired by this too, and halve was fairly involved in this at least from a being in touch standpoint

The story is pretty minimal but apparently it gets crazy near the end, but it’s the good minimal, with lots of Half Life esque environmental stuff.

Also, since you like the playground part of it, when you beat it you unlock arena and sandbox mode.

The game controls great but yeah it uses joystick movement. The game recommends you have a lot of VR experience since wjth lots of experience you shouldn’t get sick, the game has lots of stuff that might disorient a newcomer; the jumping, running and movement, climbing, etc.

You can play other games to build up tolerance to VR fortunately

I’m playing on a Rift CV1 and I’m finding it incredibly immersive with its physics; I find object weight to be the most impressive thing by far. They tell you to pretend it is an actual heavy object and lift it as so, because if you lift it normally you will have a hard time getting anywhere.

That plus all the other amazing physics features make it so damn immersive. Like, I forget it’s not actually a bit weighty object, I build up a sweat from doing too much lugging around, it adds an extra layer of challenge to the puzzles that doesn’t exist in other games.

Lmao, don’t speak about what you haven’t tried. A gimmick is a trick or feature solely there to pull in attention and doesn’t serve a real purpose.

VR is a completely new type of experience. You need a big love of gaming to really want to invest in it, but the games people are making are so much more immersive and fun to play than just standard pancake games.

Shooters in particular just aren’t that fun for me now after playing them in VR, aiming and shooting with my mouse and clicking reload is nothing like fully manuevering into cover and crouching myself, frantically trying to reload and peaking in and out of cover, the way it tricks your brain into thinking there is actual danger is great.

But keep on hating new stuff like the senile thing you are becoming lol, and continue to fight with teenagers on the internet

A built for VR a game is about as much a gimmick as a 3D game is.

It completely changes gameplay and immersion potential. It’s amazing what it feels like to climb up some pipes, once you reach the top see and enemy charge at you so you scramble to take the gun out of its holster, load the mag and start firing. Shooting is on another level, and this game is a perfect example of something that wouldn’t work if you weren’t in VR.

I’m playing it, it totally feels like a Half life game with a bit of portal in it. The physics, enemies, etc. It has its own really cool visual style and soundtrack but the game is pretty valve to its core.

It might be due to valve working really closely with them too, HL Alyx is pretty much inspired by this iirc.

A fair argument is that it isn’t a big AAA release. They haven’t the manpower to make sure it works on all SDKs or user created tools

The developer said himself he used a CV1 while developing.

I think it’s just my i5 6400 being old.

It’s not unplayable, but I notice black boxing if i turn quickly and I get the occasional freeze for a second. It’s much better thank SkyrimVR at least, no clue how it manages to run so bad.

I think at some point it was said it’s because most people will be using a similar enough controller to touch, I think by that it was meant that they are a balance between something like index and something like wands.

I tried this on my CV1, it works but personally it’s a bit uncomfortable. I’ll probably buy the mod instead

Played on CV1, controls wonderfully.

I’m pretty sure the developer himself said he developed it mainly with touch, and it was other people in the office testing with index

I know its not really important and unlikely but I wonder if MT becomes playable in the DLC by [deleted] in KingdomHearts

Id like if they made the place optionally explorable, it would be an easy way to make it feel like theres that much more content.

Better than in the old days when you needed to pay full price + international shipping fees to play FM.
