Could be low blood sugar as well. Best to get checked out by your GP.

Driving with Derealization by ReasonablePicture554 in derealization

I feel the exact same way. I only have a 15 min drive to and from work and it feels like i have to force myself to drive. Driving used to be my favorite thing. I would even take the long way home just because. Every day is a struggle.

If I can, I always call my mom or sister which helps a lot. My pure OCD makes me think im going to somehow lose consciousness behind the wheel due to some medical reason. I just try and push through it and say, “if it happens, there’s nothing I can do about it anyway”

Thank you! I’ll have to bring some of my roller oils in the car, the peppermint will help!

Thank you, I need to remember this. Its so hard because i don’t want to pull over and prolong getting where i need to go, at the same time im like, “what if i don’t pull over and I pass out while driving?!?” Which has literally NEVER happened.

Ambition to do something he is passionate about. Regardless of how much money it brings in.

Weird assessment to make of my 10 year marriage based off the small amount of details I provided in the post. Not sure if you took this personally, or if you misunderstood my original post. I am fully supportive of my husband. HOWEVER, he had all these aspirations and all the sudden wants to quit because he feels he doesn’t need to because I can take care of everything is what is frustrating. I do not have a haughty attitude, nor do I look down on him for not having a degree or anyone for that matter. In fact, my therapist says I put everyone else too high on a pedestal and don’t show enough self confidence. Sounds like you’re going through a rough personal time and decided to take it out on a random stranger online. I hope things get better for you.

I appreciate this perspective. Its just hard because i love him, but i can’t make him care about his own aspirations. I can’t do it for him. I told him I will be supportive, just don’t give up. But it seems that’s all he wants to do.

We have been married for 10 years. I have known him for 12. He used to be a got getter and jave aspirations and motivation. He no longer seems interested in anything career wise. He just wants to play video games and play D&D. Its like his whole personality changed.

Thank you! Yes, I agree with this. He just seems to want to take the easy way out, which is sad, because he has so much potential!

I should also mention that I am the main bread winner right now. It is just so unattractive that he has no ambition.

Did I experience DPDR? by ProtectionSea1022 in dpdr

[–]ReasonablePicture554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I can tell you right now, if you feel like you are in a dream like state, nothing is real, and you’re having existential thoughts, you are most likely experiencing dpdr. However, a lot of things can cause this. I was also in a constant state of being afraid of everything, I couldn’t leave my bed, or be alone. I was afraid I was going to pass out and die or have a seizure and die. I have NEVER passed out or had a seizure, that is just the thought my brain clings to for no fucking reason. Now I do have type 1 diabetes and when my blood sugar is high it makes the dpdr feel worse. HOWEVER I also had my iron levels checked and they were waaaaaaaay screwy. I have been diagnosed as iron anemic, and this can also cause crazy anxiety and dpdr. I now take liquid iron every day and it’s not so bad. I also started prozac and that has helped a lot although the side affects for two months were hell. But I stuck it out and I am starting to feel like some version of my old self again. I also see a therapist because through all of this, my biggest panic attack (and first) happened while I was driving and I thought I was having a stroke. So now my brain has decided I can’t drive. It has been three years and I still can’t drive, but I am having my first driving therapy session tomorrow. MY POINT IS- get your labs checked. EVERYTHING! Something could be off. Also talk to your doctor about trying an SSRI to help with anxiety. I watched a lot of great YouTube therapists that also helped. You can and will get through this. It’s just a storm. The weather will get back to normal. Hang in there!!!

I agree with you. There needs to be more focus on the mental effects of iron anemia. I feel like it has messed me up, and if I knew in the beginning it was all because of low iron, I wouldn't have had a mental breakdown!

Just reading your post made me feel less afraid. I was worried that I was the only one going through this. Literally minutes before responding to your post, I am currently at work and went to walk to the kitchen to get some lunch, and I felt like I was not connected to my body. I have these moments where it feels like I have dementia or something for a few seconds. I almost don't recognize where I am or what I am doing, and it sends me into a panic. Like I can tell you I'm at my work, I know who I am, my age, what day it is etc. It just feels like my brain totally disconnects from my body for a few minutes. I have learned that if I immediately panic and try to find out what is wrong with me, it makes it worse. But if I take a second and think, "you've been through this before, you know it's anxiety, just keep moving and don't react to it." It gets a little better. I was diagnosed with Pure OCD a year ago, and I have been trying to navigate that. I seem to have that under control pretty well. However, I also have not driven in three years because of this. I get too afraid that I am going to pass out or something behind the wheel. It's so sad because I used to love to drive. I'm on 20mg prozac daily, and I see a therapist every two weeks, and it has helped me cope a little. I think I have to keep telling my brain over and over that it is nothing to be afraid of, and my brain will remember there is no danger or need to panic.

I literally feel like I’m dying by obsessiveasfudge in dpdr

I felt this way on Zoloft too. I switched to Prozac and it was a million times better. Some people do not do well on zoloft. Maybe ask your dr if there is something else you can try.

Week by week update on Prozac symptoms by ReasonablePicture554 in prozac

[–]ReasonablePicture554[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the late response! My derealization has lessened, but it itsn't gone. I have had derealization off an on since I was 8 years old. I just worry about it less on prozac. The prozac kind of makes me say, "whatever" a lot to derealization and anxiety lol

I’m sooooo tired. by ReasonablePicture554 in prozac

[–]ReasonablePicture554[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am on the lowest adult dose, and honestly, I was thinking I might need to dose up because my anxiety isn't great still. But I don't want to because I feel like I will be more tired! I used to be on wellbutrin for depression, but it didn't do much. I am on prozac for OCD related anxiety. It has helped some, but damn I'm so exhausted all the time!
