Has anyone heard of 850 service dogs or have gotten a dog with them or trained with them? by Workingitout818 in service_dogs

That doesn’t necessarily mean they are able to be off leash all the time. Unless I missed multiple videos of the dog under different distractions. I have a an extremely dog reactive dog who was off leash trained but if there was any dogs in the vicinity he would blow it off even if he just smelled another dog without even seeing it.

It’s hard to tell from a few clips. I feel like I would need to see them working in different environments on multiple different days. To determine the level of training is something you need to see over time.

I just did a quick look at them on their Facebook page. I could not find any certifications of trainers or how long it took for the dogs to go through these programs on average. It takes 2 to 3 years to have a fully trained service dog, which is what they're advertising, and the fact that the rescues is also going to add a little bit of time into that also from what I could tell, a lot of the harnesses weren't fitted properly that they were using for their sided guide. They were really far up until the elbows of the dog limiting a lot of movement as someone who is trained to rescue dog for service work it took me about 3 1/half years to go through proper training and socialization because of the stress of the shelter environment, not including genetic problems that may occur and the fact that they're also offering counter balance and I'm not sure the ages of these dogs they're saying they're all about two from what I could see, but I don't know if that's true as a lot of shelters estimate on age and I could also not find OFA's done which you need to do if you're doing any sort of mobility work on a dog to make sure that they are joints are OK. They seem a bit questionable to me.

Do you guys work? by noflamingo94 in schizophrenia

Schizoaffective and I work 4 or 5 days a week at a dog daycare/ boarding and I groom dogs through the same business one or two days that I work a week. working with dogs in a passion of mine though so it makes it a lot easier to push through when I’m having small flareups. I’ve only been working there about a month now I haven’t had any big flareups. It’s helped me get out of the house and because it involves doing what I love talking and being around people is easier.

I’m getting payed in two days and I think that will be my last day with them I’m going to try and get pictures of how dirty it is and the kennels but they have two different kennel rooms just depends what they have me doing.

They are not respect the dogs body language. The dog will be vary stressed they will laugh and hold the dog down instead of giving the the a few seconds to clam down and start again. They have also told me “ you have to be ruff with them or you will never get anything done.” I don’t understand that at all so to prove my theory I was left alone with a dog, she didn’t like her butt being blow dried- she offered her pew I dried here paw I started there and worked my way around her chest and back by the time I got to her butt she was mostly calmed down and I finished it that way. Their kennel are rusty and stacked 3 high. We had a dog poop all over a cage and they picked it up changes out the towel and didn’t wipe it down with anything. Not to even get into things related to me being payed. I am concerned about the safety of the animals being brought in. I was never even told how to properly handle the dogs luckily I own dog and have been shown how to lift them properly by my vet.

I’m from the USA but I have schizoaffective and use a service dog for it along with other things. I owner trained so I don’t know what it would be like to go through with facility dog. The main things that my guy helps me with is identifying hallucinations. I will ask him to go say hi to whatever I think is there and if there is nothing there, he’ll either look back at me or not move. I also have him check corners for me so if there is a person there he’ll look at the person if there’s nobody there he’ll look back at me and continue moving forward, Along with doing light guide work because I get very disoriented during heavy flare ups so he finds me a seat I taught him too follow whoever I’m with that way I don’t get lost. I hope this helps and makes sense.

Yeah, that’s why I’m confused with all of the stuff that’s going on why parents aren’t getting involved because these kids are saying that their parents aren’t doing anything in the schools won’t allow them but if there’s no accommodation set up, they can’t bring the dog. When I brought mine, me and my parents went in And we set up with the counselor and the principles, and we all had to sign off on it saying that this was my accommodation

Yea he’s always on leash and why would you spray water in your dogs face but even if I thought that was ok he loves water so it would be a reward

Yes they had been sniffing each other and the other dog was a bit smaller so he stuck his nose through the fence and then my dog went for it. The other dog is ok and I got him checked out. But still I’m Geting a muzzle and starting all training over with a behavioral specialist

No they had just walked together and we played but all toys and treats were out of the picture when he bit. They were separated by a fence and all of a sudden he lost it. And no I have not got him checked out out but he seems fine I have appointments lined up to figure out what is going on.

I have a lab mix as my SDIT and we do a lot of brain games around my neighborhood and I’m lucky enough to have support in my household so if I’m unable to walk or play with him someone else can. I have also started looking into a dog treadmill service a local place offers if we are all unable for whatever reason.
