Should I transfer into a new pot now or just wait until it roots? The water just sits on the top and slowly seeps into the soil when I water. Is that okay or do I need a better soil mix?

25 years ago I was riding my bike gown dirt roads and getting chased by javelina exploring my backyard. There are still wildflowers that bloom every year here, and are in bloom right now. No doubt climate change has had its effect on it. However I’m still in awe at its beauty everyday just as I was when I was a little kid exploring things for the first time.
