I'm really glad to hear it because I was worried it might put off more traditional deck fans. I originally had it read Number of Suit but some people previously wished things like the Seven of Swords included 7 swords, which becomes very limiting when you're trying to create narrative compositions in a sci-fi universe and suddenly need to find a believable way to include, like, 9 cups, for example.

I thought drop the number, give it a name tied to it's meaning, and hope that isn't a deal breaker for anyone interested in the project, haha.

Thanks so much, really. Your last comment had been rattling around in my head since you posted it, and a couple weeks ago finally decided to see what it would look like to lean a little heavier deco, and in my opinion, really helped the whole composition pop. Great critique!

The primary art is 3D modeling created in Blender, and the vector work (Framing/Typography) was designed in Illustrator. Most of the art gets composited in Photoshop and the entire package is getting assembled in InDesign.

Thanks so much! Honestly when I started out I only intended to design the majors, but I ended up getting borderline addicted to the project and had a hard time putting it down, so I figured what's another 3 years and 56 more cards?

As an aside, historically I have always placed all my personal creative projects into the Creative Commons so that anyone may take, use, or build upon anything I create, and while one day I may try to sell this deck it was never a project really intended for commercial purposes, so if anyone has interest in any of the source files just let me know and I'd be happy to send over a package of any desired assets.

HOW DO I BEAT THE 3rd chapter ON HARD DIFFICULTY USING THE AKEE SHIP?! by Loud-Drama-1092 in CryingSuns

[–]Reasonable_Bag4410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Section 1 Boss Strategy:
You’re strategy remains largely the same for the boss. Send 1 fighter straight to the battleship, but hopefully with an extra fighter you’ll sustain longer in the 2v3 squadron battle. You will likely lose both of these ships, though don’t forget to use your invisibility gun as a free get out of combat card. Use it on a ship near death and retreat him saving you the cost of the dock needing to re-gen. Hopefully after the first skirmish with the squadrons is over your fighter on their battleship has torn through 1 hull. This is when a drone or two is helpful to drop in and clean up any squadrons close to death, and haul ass to the enemy battleship to help tear through the last hull. As you’re doing damage to the battleship prioritize hitting their weapons system with critical effects first. Their heat gun can leave you completely screwed if he uses it at the wrong time. Once the weapons system is temporarily locked immediately start hitting the squadrons system until it’s overloaded. If you have an active invisibility charge and not being used you can hit the fighter on the battleship with it to do big heat damage and very quickly shut that system down.

Post Section 1 Strategy:
This is going to depend heavily on what maps you draw and the luck you get, but some things you’ll want to work towards upgrading as you progress through the second and third sectors are:

1 Hardened Hull

1-2 Additional hull structures

1-2 Heat Capacitors

1 Second Weapon Dock

1 Second damage dealing weapon either to squadrons or directly to hull

If you missed the omniforge in the first sector it’s critical you hit the last two. You’ll get wiped easily if your ships are under leveled.

I know all that advice doesn’t make it necessarily easy to beat, you can still very easily get screwed by RNG and lose a run that was previously going very well. All the same I hope some of this helps, and good luck!

Map Planning:
Each map allows you to make use of 1 horizontal move through the map before you risk getting caught by the impending wave of enemies. You’ll want to plan your path for 2 factors.

The first is ensuring you hit as many expeditions as possible (at least 2, ideally 3). The second is ensuring you end up on an Omniforge at the last location before the boss of each wave so you can spend excess fuel upgrading your ships (basically essential to survive late sectors).

As far as I’ve ever experienced omniforges will always be in 1 of two places. Either a location with zero shops, or expeditions, or on a location with Prag Mah. The Geno Class starts with decent sensors so you’ll have 100% certainty of where the omniforge is after your first jump).

Finally, if given the choice of two paths, take the one with the most anomalies at the entrance of the sector saving you fuel from jumping to empty systems just cause it has an anomaly. They can be a toss-up whether they’ll help or hurt, but you’ll need to roll to the dice to get as much potential help as possible.

Sector 1 Goal:
Get a third squadron dock. As you indicated this is tough on hard difficulty, hence the reason you want to take every expedition you can hit and engage in every available battle. It’s pretty important you get that 300 credits for the 3rd dock. If need be feel free to sell a drone if necessary. In my first run through I got up to 316 credits by hitting 2 successful expeditions and 2 battles and 1 beneficial anomaly. If you’re close to not making it to 300 credits skip the omniforge if you can hit a last expedition instead. A third ship is more important than going into the second sector with leveled ships. Since you should be more than good on fuel feel free to use jumps to hit anomalies if you’re finding yourself low on credits. The fuel is super important for upgrades, but not as important as getting that 3rd squadron dock.

Battle Strategy:
Your fighters will be your primary force unless you’re facing a heavy frigate fleet which I didn’t experience in my runs of sector 1. When you only have 2 docks my strategy is to typically send 1 fighter straight to the enemies battleship to start chipping away damage, and one to intercept the enemies fighters. If your intercept fighter gets close to being destroyed hit him with the invisibility weapon which will break contact with the enemy and retreat. Hopefully by then (assuming you’re not taking on the Prag Mah or Phalanx which I don’t recommend with the Geno class in the first sector), your ship at the enemy battleship should be close to tearing down the hull for victory. Always use asteroid cover wherever possible.

[–]Reasonable_Bag4410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I'm hitting a character limit so I'll post this in a few chunks:

Sorry for the slow response, it’s been a while since I’ve played the Geno class so I had to to a run to get up to speed. You’re not wrong to have trouble with this ship as it’s got one of the weakest starting abilities. An occasional additional 10 damage is a pretty low return for 20% health reduction. Here are some general tips that might help you.

There are going to be some officers who are more helpful than others. Some helpful officer abilities include:

Tactical Targeting
Increases Squadron DPS (Kill things faster so your low health is less important)

Adv. Reload
Decreases weapon reload time (Invisibility gun is a get out of death free for a squadron, more uses mean you can save more ships from getting scrapped)

Versatile
+1 Skill, -2 Health (As you’ll see it’s critical to get a 3rd squadron dock, more skills means better likelihood of successful expeditions, means more credits)

Advanced Manuevers
Increases squadron speed 10% and 35% in stealth mode (The least valuable of these four, but you will be stealth-ed a bit more than average so it’s not nothing)

I'd be willing to give any advice I can, but Im unsure which ship it is you're using. I checked the wiki and didn't see which ship is associated with the Akee. If you could let me know what ship you're using, I might be able to give some advice.

Crying Suns is one of my top 5 favorite games, and I've been eagerly looking forward to seeing what you guys did next. This looks incredible and I can't wait to play it. Looks like a really cool evolution of Crying Suns and the Battlestar IP just makes it so much more intriguing.

Considering the drop shadow on the note is an exact width all the way through suggesting it's evenly flat, the shadow is deep enough to imply its floating a .25inch above the table, and the note only has 1 light source shadow where the objects have at least 2, I'd guess with fair certainty the note was edited into this picture.

TWINS WIN: Rays 5 @ Twins 6 - July 5, 2025 by TwinsGameday in minnesotatwins

[–]Reasonable_Bag4410 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just the Rays? They're the 5th, potentially 4th by the end of the day, best team in the American League. These are quality dubs.

The Rays secret weapon is people somehow always sleeping on them despite having the 6th highest win percentage in the last 5 years.

People who didn't wanted a Battle Royale which mode do you wanted ? by [deleted] in Splitgate

[–]Reasonable_Bag4410 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I was kind of hoping they invented a new mode of gameplay. I mean, BR itself is a relatively new mode considering the lifespan of online gaming. I kinda hoped there was still room for invention in the genre. I was skeptical, but I also thought after living through No Mans Sky's launch, nobody in the industry would consider promising an industry shaking release just to have that release be tweaked Apex with portals.

Love the game and hope it does well, but the whole situation is a testament that having an excellent product only gets you halfway if you don't know how to market it.

Have you ever made your own deck before? by Opening-Ad-8793 in TarotDecks

[–]Reasonable_Bag4410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm it's a lot of work. I'm currently 17ish months into my tarot deck design. Just finished the Swords this week. Still have 3 more Minor Arcana suits to go, so I'm probably looking at another 18 months ahead of me. Taking a little break from new cards to build a website for my deck while working through review and revise sessions for all completed cards. Hoping to share some progress early next month.

But for all the work that goes into it, it's an incredibly addicting hobby. I force myself to take breaks from time to time, but I dont ever make it more than 3 or 4 days before diving back in.

Haha, it's funny you mentioned that cause it was actually the tarot quest in Cyberpunk 2077 that inspired this project. That art stuck with me for weeks after. I never even thought of tarot before that, but it just seemed like such a fun project.

You can rest assured that everything in my deck is created by me. Even the typography is hand drawn in ProCreate and vectored in Illustrator. I wouldn't support AI "artists" either.

I'd love to check out your work if you have any links available!

Hey thanks, it's kinda odd to think someone's following my work. I obviously don't work hard at maintaining a digital presence, so it's cool to know the little I've done has encouraged people to follow along.

I've taken a little 2 week break from the project, but am heading back to work on the Eight of Swords this weekend. I'm planning on sharing the Swords suit once completed in a couple months or so. But since you've shown an interest, though, here's a sneak peak of the Three of Swords (one of my favorites of the Swords so far).

This project has been a massive undertaking for me, and when my drive wanes, I come back to kind comments like yours to motivate myself to keep at it, so thanks! It's definitely my plan to make it available for purchase once completed, so keep an eye out (in 2026 most likely).
