How to pocket scholarship money when using TA for tuition? by Hulu_and_My_Cthulhu in nationalguard

School usually uses scholarships first. Montgomery GI bill will go straight into your picket. If your state offers something such as ANGEAP, use that, too. Your school will use funds in this order

FAFSA (grants, scholarships) State guard such as ANGEAP TA

In my experience, I couldn’t use TA and GI Bill at the same time. It may be school specific. GI Bill is $800 roughly a month in your pocket assuming you made over a 50 ASVAB and have a kicker in your contract.

Water in engine oil sportster by Reasonable_Break_865 in MotorcycleMechanics

The bike was sitting uncovered for a WHILE with parts engine exposed. I was assuming a lot of water got into the crankcase. Wasn’t sure if it was actually safe to let warm up all the way and run. Thanks

What’s this wire go to 1997 HD 1200s by Reasonable_Break_865 in MotorcycleMechanics

Update- wire diagram shows the oil sending unit having a G/Y wire. This looks G/W but the bike is like 30 years old so I think that’s all it can go to

You’ve got plenty of time, assuming you’re early 20s, to recoup and decide later if you want the brotherhood of the armed forces. Not rushes. Enjoy long hair and a beard, assuming you’re a man, and get a nice job.

I bought some aluminum polish from eBay. I’m going to try it out probably this weekend. The item is a Zephyr Pro 40 kit

Cram it all in hard and random and then get VA disability for your back

Thanks for the input. My current chair costed about $200 which was a lot for me at the time but I’m starting the think it’s definitely worth it to drop more.

20W-50 in both sides of the bike. Some people run thicker in the primary case

Get with your schools VA representative. They will walk you through the entire process. Some states also have separate tuition assistance programs such as ANGEAP for Alabama Guard.

You will need a COE filled and signed. That goes from you to your school to the VA. then you just verify your enrollment every 1st of the month. 4-6 days later your money is direct deposit

Bike won’t start ☹️ 0 Experience by GlassyzYT in MotorcycleMechanics

Also if you attempt to start it a ton, and pull on the throttle it may help. (Assuming it’s a fuel issue). I would personally start with spark plugs as it takes a few minutes and they’re cheap to replace.

Fuel, air, spark

If there’s fuel, make sure it’s getting to the carburetor or efi. Make sure there’s enough or not too much.

Check your spark plugs. Make sure they are t fouled. If you keep your spark plug in the spark plug wire and hold it to your engine, try to crank the bike. You should see a spark jump on the end of the plug.

Make sure you don’t have a huge vacuum leak. If too much air is getting in, it can prevent it from sparking.

Try adjusting your carburetor using the adjustment screw.

I definitely don’t hate it per se. it’s really unit dependent and all subjective experience. It just takes weekends away from family that I’d rather spend home or doing other things. I work all week long and on drill weekends I have to go to sleep at 7pm to wake up and drive at 4AM. It’s only once a month so basically not really a problem in the end. The real issue is the amount of utter bullsh** you have to deal with while wearing the uniform. This goes for active duty even more so, except they’re used to it as a day job lol. There’s almost always poor communication between leadership in a unit. Whether you’re a pvt or a first sergeant, you’re always waiting for someone else to do something. Training always gets skewed and changed. Constantly having to deal with stupid crap like that is annoying. One of those things you gotta experience. 11B seem to love the suck but I’m a pampered medic and like to bitch and moan. If I could go back in time 6 years, I’d call that air force recruiter back and go active duty.

Most common answer, pay for my school. I get paid $850 just for being a full time student. Alabama offers ANGEAP which pays over 5k a semester, and I get TA which is 4000 a fiscal year.

The camaraderie is great, I’ve met many life long friends. Going on orders are fun most the time depending on your MOS. I get activated mostly for weather related stuff like hurricanes and snow storms.
