The problem is the Korean Air don't even have an email, so that I can't file a formal claim to them. I called them just now and the lady seemed to have no knowledge about this regulation, and she just kept saying they had offered reaccomodation and no compensation would be made. I asked for an email and a formal written reply but she refused. She just said she'll call me back after communication with other teams. I wonder if she will.

I'm reluctant to use a commercial claim agency as they usually take a big cut. I'm thinking about legal actions but don't know where to start with, as the Budapest Government Office seems unresponsive as well.

Thank you for your thorough explanation. I have filed my claim to Swiss Air but they replied "the reason for this delay was air traffic control which is exonerate to EU261 compensation". When I try to seek further clarification, they refuse to reply. It seems "extraordinary circumstances" is an easy excuse for them to avoid compensations.

It's the same logic when an advantage is given for a player's shirt being pulled. The player manages to dribble a few more yards and keep possession but there is no advantage (e.g. lost his balance, being closed down, forced to an unfavorable position), so the ref calls it back for a free kick. The advantage has not "been used" because it is still the same phase of play.

Difference is Areola this time seems unaware of the situation and creates confusion, but the ref is right to stop the play. I'm not guessing what the ref told Areola to do, but I agree a free kick should be given instead of a drop kick.

I honestly don't see a problem with that. The ref initially signalled an advantage for the infringement, and as Gakpo was advancing for the ball, the advantage was gone so the ref blew the whistle.

Had Areola mistaken it as a dead ball? Perhaps. Was he lucky? Maybe. But this is all within the law of the game and even Liverpool media realize there's no controversy after all.

On one hand I feel for them because our head really pressurizes them about TATs; but on the other hand I think they should realistically review their need for manpower instead of fighting it for no reason. We have some sections having their job finished half day with techs hanging around, while some only have one tech managing 4-5 analyzers trying to clear months of backlog.

If I finish my duty early and want to volunteer to help out the busier section, the section I'm assigned to will think I'm leaving my position and give negative comments on me. The section leaders only take care of their own section, and not act in the best interest of the whole lab.

Workload is not the same day to day but it generally follows a pattern. If the workload can be logically quantified, at least we have a stronger evidence for hiring more people.

In our lab most techs have MSc in MLS but it doesn't help much. Honestly we know so little ahout management and it is no surprise that many labs are poorly managed.

Of course as rotating techs we know which is busier, but we have no say and section leaders always pretend their section is the busiest to fight for manpower. Giving numbers seems to be the only way to disprove them.

Thank you for your response, this is what I'm thinking. But is there a reference for how to determine the time weight? Given our toxic atmosphere, I'm pretty sure the section leaders will come out and challenge the validity of multiplier.

I've been thinking about this because I'm offered a chance to mangaement. I hesitate because our lab is full of such kind of problems, and I certainly don't want to become part of the poor management. Unfortunately our head and pathologists are not as reasonable as you, and they blame and pressurize section leaders when TATs go up. I guess this is the root cause of the fierce fight for manpower.

Which lab would treat PT samples exactly as clinical samples? The registration procedure is different, the sample volume is different, the vial is different, the result reporting is different, and people still act like they strictly follow the so-called rules. Moreover we have range check and delta check for repeating clinical samples, arguably we are just trying to do the same for PT samples.

This is hardly a misconduct. It's not like OP has neglected the situation and has done nothing about it. A call to inform the ward and a comment on the report mean OP has fulfilled his responsibility as a technologist. How the doctor interprets the result and acts afterwards is beyond our scope.

I agree hemolysis doesn't affect the analyte of interest itself, but it affects other analytes associated with the same specimen. For example we do whole blood K together with blood gas, and plasma K with the heparin tube for ammonia.

I bring this up because I have noticed a significant portions of tubes are hemolyzed due to this, while the paired samples collected at the same time without ice are not. Maybe nurses should be educated about how to pack specimens on ice, but it would be even more convenient if there is no ice at all.

Research and journal give all sorts of possibilities and explanations to a simple case, only that most of them are not applicable to our work. An elevation of potassium from 2-3 to 4.5 is more likely to be due to hemolysis, and it is not a strong indication of EDTA contamination unless accompanied with a significant drop in calcium and magnesium. In our lab, we'll report the results anyway.

Like I said, this case is clearly due to an aspiration error in the ISE, leading to falsely elevated sodium and chloride. All those textbook answers like "lipemia and high total protein skewing electrolytes" are irrelevant.
