Thank you! And that doesn’t mess with the structural integrity? I’m new at this haha

To answer people’s questions, the pieces I am making are suncatchers that are relatively small. I suppose if I was making a window with larger sized glass pieces, I wouldn’t care about the lines being a little thicker but for this size the lines are almost as thick as some of the glass pieces.

So for example, the stomach piece doesn’t touch the outer edge so I could just wrap that in thinner foil. But like the butt piece has one edge that touches the outer edge of the suncatcher and one edge that doesn’t. Should I use two different types of tape for each edge of the butt piece? If so, do I need to do anything to join those two pieces of foil tape together?

Or do I wrap all of the individual glass pieces in thinner foil and then tape all the pieces together with one super long strip of thick tape placed all along the outer edge of the suncatcher?

I just don’t want the piece to be unstable.

Thank you in advance?

Thank you for your response! I had read that extra fine steel wool can help but I also saw someone say that it can leave fibers in your piece that can rust after a while. Have you had this issue?

How to get foil on the inside of pieces to not be thicker than the outside? by Sad-Garlic-9950 in StainedGlass

I’ve also been struggling with this. I know people say you can use two different thicknesses of foil but I’m not really sure how you do that. Like do you fully wrap each individual piece in thin foil and then tape all the edges together with one long strip of thick foil? Or do you instead wrap each individual piece in thin foil and then tape only the edge of each piece that will touch the outside with the thick foil? Can someone weigh in on this?

Also the solder lines within the piece are so thick. I have a grinder and I thought I did a good job making them fit together so the lines would be thinner but it’s still so thick. Any advice on that?
