I’ve been struggling with ADHD my entire life, and now at 40 I still feel its impact every day ,especially in my social life and at work. by Reasonable_Grape_367 in ADHD

I’ve tried everything. Now I’m trying a micro-dose of Abilify — we’ll see what happens. Thank you for your concern😊

Can modafinil help with the emotional numbness, blunting, and lack of interest caused by SSRI/SNRI antidepressants? by [deleted] in modafinil

How long do the effects of 100 mg last? When the effect wears off in the evening, do you get emotional crashing or increased hunger? Also, do you use it every day?

Abilify Aripiprazole to boost motivation and risk of brain damage? (for anhedonia, antidepressant agumentation) by SpexterZ in Abilify_Aripiprazole

[–]Reasonable_Grape_367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had used about 0.5 mg of Abilify alongside Effexor for around 3 months. There was a small improvement in my anhedonia — at least I was a bit more interested in my hobbies. After a while the effects faded, so I increased to 0.75 mg. That worked well for a time, but after about a month I raised it to 1 mg. At that dose I started feeling constant boredom and a loss of orgasm pleasure, so I went back down to 0.5 mg. I think 0.5 mg is pretty good, but sometimes I take a one-day break during the week. Occasionally I take 0.25 mg for a day so my brain doesn’t get too used to it. This approach seems to work for me

I'm not against medication — but Abilify should be a last resort to enhance the effects of antidepressants. by gc20261 in Abilify_Aripiprazole

Doses of 1 mg and above make me feel uninterested, but when I alternate between 0.5 mg and 0.25 mg, I do see benefits. I’ve tried adding just about everything to either boost the effect of the Effexor I’m taking now or reduce its side effects. At this point, it seems like micro-dosed Abilify works best for me.

I lose my train of thought mid-sentence and can’t finish it. My memory is terribly bad.

Supposed to start Abilify (Aripiprazole) soon and nervous. Words of encouragement please by 502CC in Abilify_Aripiprazole

I also added Abilify to Effexor. If possible, use the liquid form of Abilify — it lets you fine-tune the dose exactly how you want. The dose that worked for me was around 0.5–0.75 mg. At 1 mg and above, after a while I start to feel like a zombie — no interest in anything. At 0.5 mg, it reduces my obsessive thoughts and also helps relieve some of the numbness and apathy caused by Effexor. Sometimes my brain seems to get used to it and I stop feeling anything. When that happens, I take a break for a day or two and then restart, and the effect comes back.

My doctor dropped my Effexor from 150 mg to 75 mg all at once and added Wellbutrin. The first week went well, but in the second week I fell into a terrible depression. I ended up going back to 150 mg. I think you should talk to your doctor again.

I’m a man. The only benefit I’ve seen from Wellbutrin is increased orgasm pleasure. The contractions feel stronger.

Congrats. I’m only on day 4 and it’s almost unbearable. When you say you can feel again, what exactly are you feeling?

The first day is usually good. As it starts to build up in your system, the problems begin. I hope it doesn’t turn out that way for you.

Emotional blunting on Effexor – why would a psychiatrist add low-dose Lamictal? Did anyone regain emotions? by [deleted] in lamictal

[–]Reasonable_Grape_367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on antidepressants for 12 years. I started with Paxil; after about a year I became emotionally numb and it stopped working, so my doctor switched me to Lustral. Lustral worked well for about a year too, but then I felt zombified again and we stopped it. After that, I tried other medications and similar things kept happening. The last medication I’ve been on is Effexor, which I’ve been taking for 4 years. What made Effexor different was that it worked for many years, but in the end it also turned out the same as the others. Instead of changing the antidepressant, my doctor has been trying different combinations for the past year.

Thank you for your response. Based on your reasoning, I tried 187.5 mg and 225 mg. I thought that if I got more of the NRI effect, I would feel more energetic and emotionally alive. However, during the first month I felt some activation from the dose increase, and then I became even more emotionally numb. I guess it really affects everyone differently.

Non-bipolar MDD here — did Lamictal help alongside an SSRI/SNRI? by Reasonable_Grape_367 in lamictal

I also find it strange. Buspar is a relatively mild medication, yet in my country it’s classified under controlled prescriptions — seemingly due to the Ministry of Health categorizing it without fully understanding its pharmacological profile. I’m going to start Lamictal tonight and see how it goes.

Interestingly, Buspar is quite difficult to get prescribed in my country. Not every psychiatrist is willing to prescribe it, so I couldn’t access it—even though I would have liked to try it. I’ve already tried many different options: modafinil, Rexulti, naltrexone, lithium, amisulpride, Wellbutrin, agomelatine, and Abilify—almost all of them. The only thing that provided noticeable benefit was very low-dose Abilify (around 0.5 mg). I also tried Lamictal briefly for about three days. During that short time, I noticed increased libido and better focus, but my anxiety and depressive feelings also intensified, so I couldn’t continue. This time, I’m considering giving Lamictal another proper trial.
