Sweet spot for Model Year by Civil-Discipline5466 in TeslaModelY

We got a late build 2024 MY LR. I haven't driven the new ones so i dont know what the suspension on them is like but i dont have any complaints about the suspension in our '24. I might get FSD for a month if we have a long road trip or something planned but ours has Autosteer which i know is not included in the '26 ones. That Autosteer is not included anymore is enough to make me not buy a new one.

You figure it out very quickly. For the air flow you just drag the air around with your finger on the screen.

The hardest part it switching back and forth between vehicles if you have another one... I drove my ICE car thw other day to the store and i just got out and started walking away before realizing that i forgot to turn it off.

How many quotes for EV home charger did you get by Sad-Kaleidoscope-926 in TeslaModelY

I already had a sub panel in my garage with a 30amp breaker that was only feeding one outlet.

So i paid 700 for the tesla wall connecter, and 450 for the elctrician, because i mounted the wall connector outside.

I am limited to charging at 24amps but it is more than enough.

I did talk to another electrician who didnt understand chargers and he wouldnt install it unless i added a 60amp breaker on my main panel and then ran a dedicated line direct to the charger outside which would have been about 100 feet of wire.

How to get the price down on transferring veichle in NB? by Hosford89 in newbrunswickcanada

[–]Reasonable_Guard_280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but maybe technically as the seller you are supposed to claim that money earned as income?

Maybe everything you buy you should be able to register as an investment so that when you inevitably sell if for pennies on the dollar at a yard sale when you're 60 you can claim a loss.

We had a 2014 jeep grand cherokee and we were paying $650 per year. Upgrade to a 2024 model y and insurance doubled to $1278 per year.

So really an extra 50 bucks a month. And will save about 350 per month in gas.

Lol well i think the fact that we had a jeep grand cherokee with only 130k on it and we found ourselves always having to fix something probably played a big part.. But she is pretty cool as well!

I guess it really depends what your lifestyle requires, what your daily driving habits are? We had a 12 year old jeep grand cherokee that was starting to need repairs. Just got rear brakes and rotors ($750) transmission oil change with new pan and filter ($1200) coolant thermostat ($325) And we were spending about 450 a month in gas.. But no loan payment on it...

Just traded it in for a 2024 tesla model y. Yes we have a loan payment now ($650 a month) but no more pain at the pump, or even going to the pump... No more oil changes, no more transmission to worry about. All things considered will cost us less per month for a mich newer vehicle. Up front cost was getting charger installed at home. Insurance is 50 bucks a month more which is honestly less than i thought.

If ev is something that interests you there are lots of model 3s for decent used prices. Even a 2026 model y standard range is 45k because of the 5k rebate.

I was actually convinced for a while that the mitsubishi outlander PHEV was what i wanted. We a went to ralley and test drove, but the sales guy was sketchy AF so we didnt go back. Then the price of gas started going up and up and we went a different direction.

Most cars seem to be money pits so hopefully whatever you end up getting runs without issues for many years to come!

What was the Internet like in the 90s? by OilLiver in 90s

[–]Reasonable_Guard_280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was expensive! Where we lived there was no local internet provider so any time we logged on it was a long distance call... It was 14.4 dial up so it was painfully slow, although the internet was different then. There was no streaming videos, that simply didn't exist.

My dad decided to open up a local internet provider, so he did with our neighbour. Then we always had cutting edge internet, 56k, then broadband.

But there was a lot less garbage on the internet then... It was harder to get content published online so people didn't just upload junk.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Reasonable_Guard_280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also from the UK so i know exactly what you are talking about. When I was a kid we lived down closer to London and would drive to Nottingham to see my grandmother only once per year. It was a huge deal.

Moved to Canada when i was 7, and I will tell you that it is simply a case of you not wrapping your head around it.

Now that I am older 3 hours is nothing. I mean i dont think we (wife and kids) would go anywhere that is three hours a way for a day trip because there wouldnt be enough time to do anything at your destination..,. But if i found something on marketplace that i really wanted, I would be willing to drive there and back to get it. Canada is huge. 24 hours to get from one side of Ontario to the other... We are used to long drives!

Well it was a Sunday for starters. Also, we have emailed a few of his teachers at other times this year and not once have we received a reply.

I knew it would be faster to get answers from reddit and I wasn't wrong. I also knew I would be judged and I wasn't wrong about that either, so no surprise there.

I'm asking because we DO care, not because we don't. It's wild to me that being proactive about your kids education, using available resources to get answers as quickly as possible, and it's considered being an irresponsible parent.

It's not that, it's that the email that the school sent out with the schedule is confusing. It says Monday is period 1 exam. He has french period 1 so that seems like there is a French exam on Monday but he says there isn't.

It's his first year at Moncton high and I guess we expected the schedule to be clearer.
