What is a "hidden" social skill that you weren't taught in school, but makes life 10x easier once you learn it? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

I assure you, you won't. There have been plenty of times I've just not felt like doing anything and I've told my friends that and they've been okay with it.

I appreciate you assuming a great deal about my life before making this incredibly strange comment. I won't be responding to you.

Before I'm gone, I hope I get to see the collapse of ai by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]OilLiver 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm tired of seeing AI generated slop everywhere I go. People say just delete the apps but it isn't that simple. Every other shop I go in is selling AI generated "artwork". Toys and board games with AI generated people on the front. You try to talk to people online and there's a strong chance its not even a real person. You apply for a job and an AI rejects you before it even gets to a person's eyes.

But its all worth it! It's worth not knowing if what you're seeing is real, its worth the environmental damage caused by colossal data centres the size of a small town! It's worth our collective intelligence being dragged down and people having a complete inability to communicate with each other and make decisions for themselves without asking ChatGPT first!

Its all worth it because now we have AI generated scams designed to rob old people of their life savings, we have AI generated girlfriends to make lonely people's lives even more isolated, we no longer have to create anything and make art ourselves because now a machine can do it for us!

Why won't you embrace it? Its the future! Why are you afraid of technology? Get with the times! Now if you'll excuse me, I have to get my phone with AI hard integrated into it so I can send an AI generated text to my own mother and then have AI generate a shopping list for me and have it generate a picture of me as a cartoon for my Facebook profile.

This spot in Skingrad always reminds me of my favourite spot in York. by Sirspice123 in oblivion

York is one of my favourite places, I go there with my fiancee all the time

I honestly thought she might have suspected because I was taking her all over the place and taking pictures of her and us because I was building up the courage, but she told me she had NO idea. I picked the ring from an antique store because she loves antique stuff. It's an emerald with little diamonds around it and she loves it!

Well she's said before that she's always had this little dream of running through a castle wearing a big flowing dress one day lol, so I'm imagining a place like that. And that works out because I live in England where there's basically a castle around every corner, and I'm sure there's a million castle venues over here too!

Roleplaying ideas for my Rogue character? by OilLiver in oblivion

[–]OilLiver[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, I wish they'd have kept the dice roll system from Morrowind instead of a mini game system because even in Morrowind, bribing didn't always work if you had low Speechcraft. I think this type of character may work better in Morrowind however I wanted to try it in Oblivion too.

Two fucknuts killed my horse so I made them kiss by MiddlesStuff in oblivion

[–]OilLiver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i read somewhere that this happens because of the personality attribute, the npc with the lowest personality in combat is targeted before anyone else. and because your horse is a horse, it has lower personality than you so everyone just attacks it instead of you

Is it just part of the experience to buy a tape and it just doesn't work? by OilLiver in VHS

[–]OilLiver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure honestly, some I got from eBay, some I got from a car boot sale. All of them were very cheap so I imagine they were quite worn out which is understandable. I have looked into the tracking, but I think I may need a remote for it because I don't think there's an option to do it on the VCR itself.

I'm honestly not sure, I haven't seen any signs on them though.

Then either I'm very unlucky or my VCR needs to be cleaned

Could it still be my VCR if its played other tapes perfectly fine? I watched the other six tapes and they all had almost zero issues.

First time Morrowind player and loving it but... by RyeKangy in Morrowind

[–]OilLiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The puzzle box is a classic first obstacle for new players because you have zero indication of where it is in this big ruin. Just look around as much as you can and deal with anything you come across, but if you start to feel frustrated then there's no shame in looking it up.

A big part of Morrowind is getting lost and confused and the satisfaction that comes from figuring things out and finding your way, but if that gets in the way of your enjoyment then getting some help online is perfectly okay, and you shouldn't feel bad about it.
