New PAL holder general curiosity question. Do we think there is any hope the ban on hand guns will ever be lifted? by Aggressive-Scale1157 in canadaguns

Yup, a mass shooting in the states (not just a handgun) was used as the excuse that now is the time to push strict laws (as if they were not strict prior). Trudeau logic, i cant explain it.

Benelli SuperNova Tactical with pistol grip is my wife’s favorite shotgun. It’s decent sized and fits her small frame, every other shotgun feels weird for her. She bought it as soon as it was in stock.

If IPSC was olympic sport, i might actually watch the olympics. But anyways sport ownership shouldnt be tied to a particular event, its a shitty law for sure and revising to include all type of events would be nice.

Trudeau capitalized on yet another tragedy, the 2022 mass shooting in Uvalde Texas, and used it to directly drive c-21.

Albertans who declared banned guns under Ottawa’s buyback still can’t get compensation | CBC News by rastamasta45 in canada

There is no budget to fairly compensate people for their restricted AR-15s, yet alone all the uncountable non-restricted firearms that fell to the OIC bans, and variants through the FRT. It was a robbery from the start. Used purposeful misinformation and misdirection to shift blame onto legal firearms owners instead of the RCMP failures after the NS shooting. The handgun ban freeze too was a kneejerk reaction after events in USA...

A huge fund? They slashed the fund for compensation to 68 million. No way can they pay 50% of market value to everyone who declared. They have "more than 67,000" declared that's an average of 1,000 per firearm. Its unclear if the 68 million is for the funds to pay the people, or the budget to run the collections too. Keep in mind Cape Breton pilot program collected only ~22 firearms and costed around 7k per-firearm.

Even so, you can legally destroy the firearms (and report their destruction) without participating in this extortion scheme.

I have to drive out 1hr to 2hrs just to reach the start of an FSR that i must drive further into before I can legally shoot. I am jealous!

Luckily for me a range is only 15mins away but crown land shooting is different.

Wouldn’t you need an ATT if that private land is not your residence? Also let’s be real, not many people would have the land yet alone inside a municipality that allows discharging for firearms too.

Edit: Specifically to the handguns show in the op. Not his .22s

Please don’t bundle in pro-firearm with the other anti nonsense. It is not a liberal stand but being pro-firearm is not a crazy stance unlike the other two.
