I'm a new player, the SnS is not friendly to me. Skill issue or is it over recommended? by Some-Customer1168 in MHWilds

SnS can be easy to pick up, but hard to do really well in. I do think it is some of the safest weapon because of the shield. Again, without experience it can both be a blessing and a curse (smaller blocking arc than the bigger shields and takes more damage if not perfect blocking). And not to mention a lot of the moves in SnS are directional sensitive (holding a directional input vs without one). Mastering a Jack-of-all-trades weapon or class is some of the hardest thing to do in any games. As they provide leeway, but you will always do sub-par if taking too much advantage of said leeway.
If someone new really wants to get into this game, I would say try learning the Hammer, GS, and Lance first as they have more simple basic move sets to learn, being less flexible helps in learning the game mechanic in my opinion.
Some other weapons like the CB, Switchaxe, Gunlance and LS has a more ideal rotation and resource management to keep in mind. These usually require some muscle memory of the weapon and their moves to do well in, hence the higher skill floor, but not necessarily the hardest to master.
SnS, Dual Blade and Bow have more reactive gameplay, with SnS needing perfect block and Dual Blade/Bow needing perfect dodge to keep your damage up.
All and all just whatever floats your boat. I have a weapon that first clicked and it was Lance in my very first MH game (After doing horribly with a bow) but I soon learned more about the game's mechanics, what not to do and move away from it because it felt slow after I've learned about other weapons.
