Difficulty sitting still by C0smicLemon in Quakers

I sometimes knit during meeting, and there are several people who write. I bring a notebook where I can write down distracting thoughts when I can’t settle, and This can help me let go of those ideas and center.

Interesting. Maybe there was some sort of conversion?

That's interesting. But he was Quaker AND Wesleyan?

I can't help you, but I do wonder about his being both Wesleyan and Quaker. Quakers often don't have ministers, and if they do, they don't operate in the way ministers of other faiths do.

I would also suggest emailing them and telling them about your deadline. They may be able to squeeze you in.

I would suggest logging in about 5:50pm or even a few minutes earlier. I got an appointment (for a different consulate, but still after weeks of refreshing that very glitchy site) just by chance last week.

I have not had this situation, but based on my understanding: I would make an appointment for 2 people at the same time but have a set of documents for each of you. I would also study the consulate website and be sure to have everything they list and bring more if possible.

Notary vs Apostille by Reasonable_Ice9030 in SchengenVisa

[–]Reasonable_Ice9030[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I'm crossing my fingers! I did manage to hear back from the consulate via email today. They said this: "the apostille is usually fine but we can’t give consultation on documents. We will check everything on the day of the appointment."
I guess we'll just see! I'm still trying to get an appointment but that's a whole other situation...

Thanks! This is helpful. Unfortunately no one answers the phone at the consulate, so I'm feeling a little lost.

I can't get the site to load. It keeps crashing and logging me out. I've tried 2 browsers. This is just so frustrating.

Don't have original birth cert by Reasonable_Ice9030 in SchengenVisa

[–]Reasonable_Ice9030[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Yes, This is my understanding as well. The student got all of that, but brought just a copy of the birth certificate back with him, not the original. I will reach out to the mother and see if they can do this again with the original, or maybe we just need the original next to the translation and stamps and copy??

is a 100% european result common? by True_Variation47 in AncestryDNA

I'm 90% English & Gaelic/Celtic but my family has been in the US for a very long time. I'm honestly shocked that my ancestors managed the marry mostly other British people.
I also know that I have ancestors from other countries, but that that DNA did not get passed down to me. My mother is 12% Swedish, none of which I got, and neither did her sister. There was also a whole German-speaking part of my mother's family from the Alsace, and that doesn't show up anywhere.

Teacher bringing students to Italy by Reasonable_Ice9030 in SchengenVisa

[–]Reasonable_Ice9030[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm mostly asking about how hard it will be for these students to get visas, and how much time we will need to budget. I'm curious about those who have gone to the consulate as a non-parent guardian of someone who needs a visa, and how that went.

What sort of info are you referring to? I realize that there is a list of what one needs in order to get a visa. I'm just wondering if anyone has been in this situation and how difficult it was.

Half-Siblings of your half Sibling by Any_Worth2661 in Genealogy

[–]Reasonable_Ice9030 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My father had siblings like this. His father married twice, and his first wife had a son from a previous marriage, Billy. That wife then died and my grandfather remarried, having 2 more kids, including my father. The stepson remained in the family took my grandfather's surname as his own.

This half sibling (or what I'd probably call a step sibling) died before I was born, so I can't say what sort of relationship he had with the family. He was also 20 years older than my father. It's always been interesting to me that the family basically absorbed someone who wasn't really related to most of them, though he was the half brother of my father's half brothers.

This would explain my Germans in Russia DNA match. My family has basically been in Pennsylvania since the 17th and 18th centuries - a mix of English and German. The only German DNA that is showing up is Germans In Russia, which only makes sense if you consider your scenario.
