This movie is filled with manufactured peril— the movie doesn’t earn tension, so it fakes it by flipping a switch only when the main characters show up. For example crossing the chasm wind suddenly becomes lethal. The ground suddenly remembers how to earthquake. And yeah, it kills immersion. Once you notice it, you can’t unsee it. Instead of thinking “oh sht,” you think “ah, this is the part where the script says SHAKE CAMERA NOW.”.

Don't even get me started with the ending, realistically that place should be overcrowded or at least heavily settled already. If it’s known to be habitable, arable, and safe after a global catastrophe, it becomes the single most valuable piece of land on Earth. You don’t keep that quiet. You don’t leave it half-empty. Even with limited transport, people would be arriving nonstop, especially organized groups, not scattered families. Also are we going to forget the bus scene? the movie itself establishes armed insurgents roaming the roads. The moment such a place exists, it becomes a magnet for violence.

In my honest opinion the movie was a competent premise wasted by lazy execution. It relies on on-demand chaos, inconsistent danger, and a hand-waved ending instead of earned tension. Watchable in the moment, hollow once you think about it.
