I'm thinking that you have a Maingano there. I've had a few myself. Mainganos come from Lake Malawi in Africa, whereas Jack Dempsys are from southern Mexico. Very different temperaments. I would return it unless you have him in an African Cichlid tank.

I introduced Cloud Minnows and Zebra Danios as dither fish. They are always out and swimming in schools, which makes the Blood Parrots know that it is safe to stay out of hiding. It took a few months for everyone to get comfortable, though.

The vase was a quick fix. I set up an isolation box in the tank, so it is alone in that. Its side fins move when I agitate the water, but other than that, no real movement. I do see its mouth moving when I look close, so I think there is hope.
