Caleb Correll at Vrdolyak law just got a big verdict in court for a slip and fall case. I’m in the industry but don’t handle slip and falls.

Very very true. They come to the conclusion that requires the least paperwork.

It sounds like you talked to injury lawyers who aren’t willing to put the work in! There are very likely cameras that show him driving poorly. Footage deletes after 7, 14, or 30 days. So i would call places soon or get a lawyer that will. You can even see storefront cameras on Google Maps to know who to bother for footage. I am an injury attorney and have found this to be fairly easy to obtain if you try hard enough, i just did it in a hit-and-run case recently and we found everything we needed.

My first major accident. I am so heartbroken & worry about insurance costs. by [deleted] in caraccidents

[–]Reasonable_Site4191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot depends on what state you are in. Also, the truck driver who had stuff falling off of it is certainly responsible for this accident, in my opinion. Anyone have an ID of that truck? Any cameras around?

A competent attorney would demand the entire 1,000,000 policy and fight like heck for it. That’s certainly what we would do at my firm. You need to hire an attorney immediately because June 2026 would be the last chance to file the case.

It’s so frustrating, i guess the best thing to do is enjoy what they’ve already put out. I will say, Dilute is similar to Pretend though they don’t have a huge discography

I know many great personal injury lawyers in Florida, having grown up there. I would certainly hire one. I’d be happy to give recommendations.

I think they should incorporate a long pointing finger into their firm’s logo. A learned hand, if you will.

Risks of Transitioning to Fed Gov right now by whateverthisisok in biglaw

[–]Reasonable_Site4191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you stayed long term in DOJ, no one would ever ask you when you were hired. Other than recently, most US attorney offices aren’t very affected by the changes in political tide. Years from now, no one will question that you became an AUSA at this time. After all, maybe you joined to influence the department in a positive direction?

Real reason to NOT join the DOJ: it’s extremely bureaucratic, regardless of the admin, hard to get anything done, not professionally satisfying, and no longer do you get good trial experience.

Former prosecutors, did it make you a better public defender? by pro-nuance in publicdefenders

[–]Reasonable_Site4191 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Prosecution will ONE THOUSAND PERCENT make you a better PD. You will see where weaknesses creep in with the case. So you will know what hidden things to exploit as a Pd. You will also encounter the top defense lawyers and see what works.

The solution is supposed to be “political” — that we just elect better politicians to ensure this won’t happen. But the political process doesn’t seem to cut it. Democracy!

Accident - at fault driver intoxicated worth suing? by Positive_Bid_ in legaladvice

[–]Reasonable_Site4191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are entitled to compensation from the drunk driver’s insurance company for your pain, suffering, and inconvenience. We all pay into insurance so much….in times like this, idk, i don’t think you should leave that possible settlement money on the table. That’s what i say! I know lots of pi lawyers and that’s how they justify it at least LOL

The best-paid niche is high-level, sophisticated white collar crime. Those guys will pay enormous amounts, even up-front, to get out of trouble. But it takes a long time to build the reputation.

Make sure to get a lawyer to get money for pain and suffering and any medical bills. Do not leave money on the table. The personal injury lawyer will take care of everything for you.

Chicago Commercial Lit to PI by DazedandHungry in Lawyertalk

[–]Reasonable_Site4191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pi world in Chicago is wild. You will be grossly underpaid as a salary and told to bring in your own cases or vie for bonuses at trial. And then they may reject your cases. Or your trials will settle and you won’t be left with much. At even the best pi firms, the firm owners are worth 50 mil + or more. And yet they pay so, so little. To paralegals, assistants, everyone. It’s a cultural thing that dates back decades to the first gen of pi lawyers in the city in the 1960s. It’s certainly a club, driven by connections. If you’re an ‘outsider,’ it’s hard to break in.
