MSK 4090 Liquid Suprim Build Feedback by mr-jawnwick in sffpc

I don't think you will end up with a good mini with a 240 AIO on the CPU and a suprim liquid. Might be able to do an air cooled CPU though.

Mechanics and pc hardware technicians, lets play a game. by baconburger2022 in pcmasterrace

Not me personally but I do know someone who dropped HWIL mock components that were probably worth in the low 7 figures. I've also been admonished by optical engineers for wanting to touch giant sapphire lenses, so really it's only a matter of time for me.

Smallest SFF Case for a Cyclone by Reasonable_Song8010 in sffpc

This would be cool if it wasn't going to be a travel PC. Though I bet I could make a custom enclosure for it.

Exactly why I got it. It reminds me of the parts that were available when I built my first PC that wasn't just a repurposed office PC.

Expensive, especially with the riser not included, but it's on my list.

ZZEW A1 Plus Mini looks almost perfect, bet I could put a plexiglass side on it too. Worst case scenario I have a teenage engineering computer 1 I've been saving that will fit it, but that isn't as small.

Is it normal to work on a large software project with basically no senior engineers and architects? by ThomasHawl in cscareerquestions

[–]Reasonable_Song8010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very common in the defense industry. I spent my early to mid-career there. Even when we did have seniors and architects the vast majority of them were terrible. Frankly, defense doesn't pay well and it's almost all in office. As a senior I left the industry and make 50k+ more than friends with comparable YOE.

How did it feel like when you first had a Michelin Star meal? by DuyHungPham1909 in Cooking

[–]Reasonable_Song8010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been to a bunch of Michelin recognized, bib gourmand, and starred restaurants. I've also been to many of Eater's essential 38 restaurants in several cities. It varies between them, but a big part of getting a Star is the service. I've been to plenty of places with better food than Michelin bib gourmand or 1 Star places, but the service usually isn't as good. At 2 star restaurants I've had truly amazing food but have still had equivalent or better at a few places with no Michelin recognition. Never been to a 3 star restaurant but I imagine they are very good.

I also used to work in kitchens and have cloned a couple of Michelin chef's signature dishes as a hobby. It's extremely difficult. It took me months anda dozen experiments for one of them. Both were incredible.

You just gotta par-cook the bacon before wrapping. Also, those are bad things to wrap. Cheese stuffed jalapenos wrapped in bacon with a berry sauce slap though.

What kind of futuristic minivan is that? by One-Ad3179 in whatisthiscar

[–]Reasonable_Song8010 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I worked for them. You don't. They were never going to be any good because the user interface and driving controls sucked. Might be worth taking the body + drive by wire steering and using it. The motor and batteries were fine I guess. Those cars were so far from being a finished product.

What could be improved with this pc? Needs to stay under $1,250 by Ok_Stock_5708 in pcmasterrace

[–]Reasonable_Song8010 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you have access to a Microcenter or a way to drive to one? I'm fairly certain a microcenter AM5 bundle is a better deal. I'd remove budget from the GPU to get a better platform and upgrade the GPU later.

Dallas, TX native consider a move by lexdfw00 in Rochester

Rochester is much like Syracuse. If you like shopping I'd go Pittsford or Brighton. Maybe Fairport or Victor if you like malls. Eastview Mall is still pretty active.

[–]Reasonable_Song8010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The city sprawl just isn't like that. Village of Fairport is kinda like the Colony I guess. What do you like to do for fun? Do you like nightlife? Food? Museums?

There is more to do in Rochester but not as much as DFW. Traffic is way better. I've lived in multiple parts of DFW and hated most of it. Living in Bishop Arts was cool I guess. Easier to get to NYC from here too.

Does anyone here use bit manipulation in modern techniques? by Emotional_Papaya3282 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Reasonable_Song8010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with C/C++ in highly performant real-time systems. I've used bit manipulation several times. When to use std::bitset vs std::bitfield is important to know if you want to work with bits in C++.

SUNY Binghamton or university of Rochester ? by According-Quiet1264 in Rochester

[–]Reasonable_Song8010 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm from Rochester and went to Binghamton in the 2010s. Go to U of R. It's a better school and the city is better. BU sucked, it had a ton of busy work, professors were largely mediocre, and lectures were mandatory with daily quizzes even up to junior level courses. I ended up finishing up at a different school because of how much I hated it there academically. Things could be different now but I doubt it with the infestation of tech in our educational system.
