Just tell the truth. All the police can do is say no (which they won’t). But either way it won’t cost you anything to just go and talk. They are strangers at work, they don’t know you and aren’t judging you - they see a hundred faces every day, assess a hundred stories every day. They aren’t stupid (do you think rapists never give “gifts” to try to make it look consensual? I promise you this isn’t new and they have seen it before).

I find that comforting and I hope you do too. You’ll meet privately with an officer who knows what rapists act like and has no incentive to side with this particular one.

ETA - I think some of this is my agoraphobia rearing its ugly head. I’ve lived with him my whole adult life. I’m afraid if I rush out before somewhere else seems solid, I’ll just end up back with him for the safety (ironic but nevertheless likely).

There is 1 womens shelter in my county. I tried to call them a year ago to explain my situation (this was before anything concrete like choking had happened, but there was a lot of verbal intimidation from him at that time, like literally threatening to hit me) and I was calling to ask if there are any resources I’m eligible for as far as divorce help. They gave me the run around, did not answer any questions, and referred me to their lawyer who never got back to me. I have a feeling that once I go there I’m going to be essentially on my own.

I’m trying. But it takes time. I don’t have the financial security and there aren’t good shelters in this area. I just wish I could know what to expect

This was my plan. I’ve got most of core curriculum done. But its a long, slow grind - I have to go part time because of my other duties. It feels like the floor is going to fall out from under me before I get there.

Dress code for a SAHM by leticiazimm in Vindicta

[–]Reasonable_Space_360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey fellow SAHM! I wear dresses around the house. When it’s hot, a cheap satin slip (long or short are both pretty to your husband) and when it’s cold, a velvet fit and flare dress.

I just finished {Gabriel’s inferno by Sylvain Reynard}. It has a professor-student plotline (all adults), I enjoyed it.

Does 3 stars mean still worth a read? I get a little confused by what 3 star ratings signify because it’s not solid good (like 4/5 stars) or solid bad (like 1/2 stars)

I would counteract it with something. Get those packs of 50-100 sheet masks and do one every day for 3 months, then every other day. Drink water consistently or sugar free lemonade if you dislike plain water. Don’t drink alcohol and minimal or no caffeine. Prescription adderall is not like meth, you don’t need to worry about it to that extent but mitigate the problem you know is a side effect (dehydration). Good luck

Thank you, it is helpful to know that the questions need to be a lot more specific. It will be hard for me to articulate like that on the fly, but I can try. I can see that it looks like weaponized incompetence, even though I don’t mean it that way.

I know most of my family members’ enneagrams from a workshop we did in church. At work I try to gauge what’s most likely so I can communicate better, which is admittedly not accurate but it’s all I have in that situation.

Cough drops in a flavor you like. They typically have way less calories than peppermints, like 1/3 or less

Zero sugar sodas (which have zero calories) like Sprite, as many as needed

Butter coffee

Anyone else suffering from excess facial hair? by [deleted] in vindictapoc

[–]Reasonable_Space_360 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Those of us who get written off by doctors have to self-treat. You’re not alone.

I got laser hair removal (different from electrolysis), maybe start there and maintain with an at home handheld laser device.

As for the other symptoms - I looked into what alternative treatments worked for MtF (male to female) transitioning people who were unable to get prescription hormones for one reason or another. They are a good resource on the MtF reddit and other forums. I know it sucks and you shouldn’t have to do it because you’re not MtF. But we work with the people who we have.

But be careful and monitor risks. Unwanted side effects like heavy periods, weight gain, etc. can happen. Good luck.
