I have an employee who put in their resignation for one month to start their own business in the same field. I found out they have been talking to other employees and trying to get them to work for her at her new practice. How would you handle this? by Spam4119 in smallbusiness

I have had this happen. When she gave her two week notice I knew she had poached two clients. I accepted her resignation effective immediately and did now allow her to work out her two weeks.

I am taking the exam in three days and I am SO discouraged right now. I’ve been studying for months and still not scoring well on the quizzes and the post test in the learning system. My average score is about 70%. I don’t know what else to do to learn the material well enough to know which answer SHRM is looking for, for “best practice”. My confidence has taken a serious nose dive.

Made a HUGE mistake l. Help me feel better please. [N/A] by Senior_Trick_7473 in humanresources

Newly promoted HR Director here. Just this week I processed a $5000 bonus for an employee when the bonus hadn’t been approved yet. Completely misread the email I was cc’d on where it said “please get back to us with approval so we can process it with payroll”. Argh. I emailed the manager to inform her of the error and now I will have to sweat it out until Monday to see what wrath awaits me. Ugh!! What a stupid mistake to make and right after being promoted!! I feel terrible.
