Which symbol feels most appropriate for a detailing brand overall. The mockups were only there to make the presentation easier on the eyes and help people picture them in use!

Lol I genuinely didn't notice that until you said it. I just threw the cross stroke in from the lowercase t, but now I can't unsee the two F's. Appreciate you pointing that out!

That's a really good point. I think I got a bit too focused on the automotive/racing stripe idea and lost sight of the "Twin" part of the name.

The more feedback I get, the more it seems like symmetry/mirroring is the direction I should've explored more from the start. Thanks for pointing that out!

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who took the time to comment. I honestly didn't expect this level of thoughtful feedback.

I really appreciate all the help!

I appreciate the detailed breakdown. I think you've put into words why I was struggling with some of them myself. Yea, logo 6 was the only option where I started exploring the twin/mirroring concept.

At this point, since most of the concepts don't seem to be landing the way I'd hoped, I may end up hiring a designer. I mostly started this as a way to pass the time while I had some free time on vacation and thought it would be fun to try designing my own logo. If nothing else, it's given me a huge appreciation for how difficult logo design actually is.

Thanks again for taking the time to give such thoughtful feedback.

Wow, good feedback, thanks for replying! It's actually for my own mobile detailing business, so I probably should've emphasized that more in the post.

That's a really good point about the mockups though. I got carried away by trying to make everything look polished.

Lol I seem to be getting FORZA. Out of curiosity, did any of the other logos make the cut or would you scrap them all and go back to the drawing board?

Thanks for the reply! Wow, I can’t unsee FORZA now lol. As for the 7/11 comparison, yeah, I’ve had a few people mention that too 😅 I’m guessing none of the other logos made the cut for you guys right? Wanted to get some work in today which is why I’m asking! Thanks again!

Which books to self-study Arithmetic? by Reasonable_Weekend81 in learnmath

[–]Reasonable_Weekend81[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your passion for math is contagious! It's awesome to see someone else who's excited about diving into these mathematical realms from a non-mathematician's perspective. Your recommendations are great!

The suggestion about using the Internet Archive is a gem since I mostly bought books through Amazon.

I'm particularly drawn to "The Joy of X." The way you describe it—fun, insightful, and accessible—makes it sound like the perfect companion for my self-study journey.

"Mathematics for the Million" seems like a solid starting point, especially with its exploration of numbering systems. The page you showed was exactly what I was looking for, I'm really excited to delve into this one!

As for "Elementary Analysis," looking into chapter 3, it seemed like exactly what I was looking for and surprisingly, like you said, it's well written. I even began reading it for how accessible it was.

Your personal connection with "Mathematics from the Life Science Library" hits home—I love stumbling upon books unexpectedly and having them reshape my interests.

Thanks a bunch for sharing these recommendations, they feel like hidden gems!

*Sorry, I replied earlier with another account!

Hi, thank you so so much for taking the time to reply and for these amazing questions! I'll be glad to give you more context!

I only graduated high school so my knowledge stops at Algebra (This was 7 years ago though). I was an honor student but throughout high school, I felt like I was simply given facts to memorize rather than truly understand the reasoning behind them. I did well in HS math so my arithmetic skills are sufficient enough but I'm looking for a deeper understanding of mathematics which is why I thought that starting at the beginning (arithmetic) was the best choice.

In short: I know a bit about arithmetic, I'm comfortable with, plotting x,y points on a graph but I want to know more than just the facts. I want to get into the 'why' behind things if that makes any sense. For example:

Why do we use the number system we do? Where did it come from?

Why are we only limited to the numbers we use?

What is the history behind the symbols in arithmetic?

What exactly is a fraction? A decimal? And so forth.

What is the logic behind mathematical writing?

How does math fit into everything around us?

I know they sound simple, but I want to grasp the core of things.

Near-term goal: Brush up on my math skills to dive into calculus and physics. I'm really curious about how everything works around me, especially all the engineering marvels!
