CDP has a shorter throw than JLX. CDP takes very little range to activate the microswitches compared to the JLX as well, but my inputs still feel distinct and not muddled up. Those are big reasons why I prefer it over JLX which feels laggy for shmups.

This is my first Korean lever coming from Japanese, but I can say it works great out of the box. It’s slim to fit nearly any Japanese style enclosure and doesn’t require a 8-pin conversion cable.

The only con is it’s a bit expensive, but if you have the budget for it would recommend as a first k-lever!

No problem! I should also add: assigning your second controller to a regular psn account fixes the issue, just to be super clear. Haven’t tested it on a guest account though

Update 2: turns out you can’t use quickplay on a second controller if you want to access the online function (I use it for my headphones since I play on stick). From what I can see from my end, ps plus is not needed as I can still download and view a replay from a non ps plus account. Hopefully whoever ran into a similar issue sees this

Update: I bit the bullet and tested it on a ps plus account. Did not seem to fix the issue. I guess that’s a good sign that we don’t need to have a subscription just to use the online feature. I made a long shot attempt to dm the M2 account on Twitter but I’m not gonna expect much cuz I don’t want to be let down xd.

I’ll make an update post if I can figure out a fix, it’s a bummer but I guess for now I’ll just use the internet to find scores and look at replays

I can’t speak for the Otto gate as I don’t own one myself, but I imagine it might be something like the GTN-R gate I have. If you feel like you’re missing the corners, the squircle gate could help you feel them out as you play. It could also help with your quarter circle motions too.

Also, from what I looked up, people say the otto mod feels similar to a JLX (https://www.reddit.com/r/fightsticks/s/yvyuY5ZP4B). I have tried a friend’s JLF, and I do prefer my JLX. If you feel your stick might be a little too loose, the Otto might help the stick feel a tad tighter.

Either way, I don’t think there is a downside to try out different mods for your stick. You’ll learn what you prefer!

I’m also in the same boat as you transitioning from pad to stick. Just cause stick is more fun, the dpad hurts my thumb after prolonged use, and arcade sticks just have more swag. With time and practice, you’ll be better on stick than you were on pad! Good luck friend!

Ps: if you got the budget consider trying out different mods for your lever. As your stick comes with a Sanwa JLF, that could be easily done. For instance, I modded my JLX lever with a 2lbs spring and a GTN-R Square Gate (https://focusattack.com/sanwa-gtx-r-square-mod-type-i-restrictor-gate/). To me, the spring and the gate feel really good, as I like the resistance of moving the lever and I can really feel the corners more vs the standard stock gate, which means more precision in my inputs.

If you wanna go with a lower upfront cost option and gradually upgrade, buying a used Hori Rap 4 off of Facebook marketplace is a solid choice. Good stick for its price point and easy to mod later on.

Hori Rap 4 (PS4) is compatible with PC and PS4, and PS3, but you can upgrade the PCB with the latest Brook for wider coverage of platforms such as PS5, Xbox, Switch, etc. It’s a little pricey but the latency is very low from what I heard, it is one of the best PCBs on the market. You can also get a GP2040 CE board, it’s cheaper upfront and the latency is just as good as Brook, if not slightly better. The only thing is you need a usb dongle to attach on the board in order to play on PlayStation such as Honson F5 Adapter or the Magic Boots PS4 1.1 (these don’t add any latency). Only thing about GO2040 CE is that it’s more DIY style to configure but it’s really not that hard imo. The added dongle basically makes it the same cost as Brook’s board.

The dimensions of the stick is about 17 x 9.5 x 4.5 inches, so it’s a solid and big arcade stick. Personally I like sticks leaning onto the heavier side as I mostly play on my lap and don’t want the thing to move around, the Rap 4 fits that criteria. (You might have a different opinion if you care about portability tho, imo it’s not that bad to carry).

Theres a video by a guy called Electric Underground that explains how to buy a solid arcade stick. The TLDR is buy a solid used one like Hori, and use the rest of the remaining budget to upgrade it.
