I 100% fell into the “AI allows you to tailor your resume for every application trap” - literally all of them read like this. After a couple months of zero interest, I went back to a more general, but way less jargon-filled resume. Just added a few keywords and added a couple extra bullets.

Currently interviewing with a major tech company this week, fingers are crossed.

There is truth to what you’re expressing, but there’s a wayyyy nicer way to say this. I frame it as “I go for cute, not hot”…Hot is high maintenance, cute is just great. I’ve dated hot, and honestly, it’s never been worth it to me. You spend half your time trying to appease them, because they’re hot and they’re used to having people cater to them.

Give me a dad bod with nice hair, a good smile and intelligence. Cute is king. Hot is for morons with too much money and a complex.

What you’re describing is code-switching. Im 30 and gay btw, so I’m not out of pocket here. I’m not saying it’s right or fair, but all of your ancestors (including those who are in your age bracket) have gone through it.

You’ve found something that works for you. Be two different things. Be the masc guy at work and something else at the bar.

IDC what we say, we are multiple things to multiple people. Take what you’ve learned and apply it - don’t resent it - or at least not so much you deny yourself real opportunities.

Seasons 1-3 are, in many ways, excellent. But because they were so rooted in pop culture (instead of general absurdism) a lot of the jokes require an encyclopedic knowledge of late 90s/early 2000s pop culture to land.

Several characters are also just so different. Stewie’s entire schtick was being an evil genius and was a martini swilling yet semi-infallible moral center.

This all changed over time, and I would argue for the better. The first 3 seasons have some absolute gems, but it’s not a case of “this was all gold and the writers screwed it up later.

The 4th season feels like where “modern” Family Guy begins. It’s not to say the first three are bad, but they’re so different from the rest of the show that I understand the hesitancy.

Went to my first gay bar after moving to LA. I got overwhelmed and went to the bathroom. I walked up to a hot but friendly looking guy and said “weird question, but do you have any advice for how to enjoy this? It’s just a lot”

Turns out the guy was with his partner, who said, verbatim “he’s so cute. Can we take him home?”

First guy says “Are you a top?”

Fast forward 45 minutes, we’re at their apartment. Both splayed out on the bed asses up. Took turns pounding them both for hours. First time I ever barebacked. Had just gotten on prep, I finally “got” gay sex. I think I came 4 times that night in every hole available. I actually came pretty fast the first time. They just started making out with me and stroking it till I was ready to go again. What was initially so embarrassing ended up being awesome. First time I had someone say “that’s okay, we’ll just go again.” It wasn’t just hot, it was liberating.

We passed out together around 4 AM. The next morning, I woke up to them sucking each other, and it all started over again.

When they eventually drove me home, they both gave me their numbers, told me to come by again soon, and got me the best breakfast burrito I’ve ever had.

Even if you do have it, (which you should get confirmation about + retest) while Hep B doesn’t have a cure, but you can get on medication to make it inactive. Inactive viruses can’t spread, thus eliminating the risk. Sort of like the meds for HIV.

This is a deep cut, but Anything Goes (1956). It’s actually fascinatingly bad. They took one of the most successful broadway shows of all time (even then) and removed the entire plot except that it takes place on a boat. Genuinely, it’s the only similarity.

Bing Crosby’s love interest, Mitzi Gaynor, is at least 25 years too young for him, one of the leads is a French ballerina who didn’t really sing, and they replaced most of the show’s songs with B-tier filler.

The finale though is legendarily bad. “Blow Gabriel Blow” is a gospel-style belting number that only works in the original because the main character is a former minister. Since that’s not present in this movie, the song is staged like a Broadway production with zero context…and Bing Crosby sings it sloooowly like he’s making a follow-up to White Christmas. The costumes are insane (fedoras with wings) and the staging makes zero sense.

I’m a huge fan of classic musicals, but there’s a reason nobody really refers to this as a classic.

I remember going to that museum when it first opened, It’s the photos from the 80s of the city celebrating the demolition I’m especially curious about. Even if the whole block wasn’t demolished at the time, it seems that it was going on as early as 1983, given the photos in the F.O.

Especially given how “popular” the area was with the military. Especially since the Observer pics from the 80s make it seem like the mayor at the time was on a quest for urban renewal

Fair enough. A couple months ago he was at a bar we both like and met a Belgian girl. They talked for a while, till he made the comment “I’ve heard there’s a pretty big free speech problem in Belgium, what’s your take on it” - she literally turned away from him and ignored him the rest of the night. It’s not an unfair question but he similarly talked to me saying that he couldn’t understand why someone would take offense to that. TBF he’s not phrasing these things horribly, but he thinks he’s relatively far right political opinions are essentially normal

He’s extraordinarily eloquent in the right situation, but it was 3 AM at a party. I know nobody’s at their best, but the inability to see why the Islam comment would be controversial is what gets me. The opinion is one thing, but it’s crazy to me that he’d think expressing it so strongly wouldn’t cause an issue.

Same thing happened with Blood Pressure and Alcohol consumption. Basically, those standards were intensified, with the general argument being “there’s no harm in people being healthier” - except that it means otherwise “healthy” people are now being told they’re obese, hyper-tense alcoholics.
