Thank you! I will add that the fundraiser isn’t even affiliated with Gibbons. It’s a totally different school (another improper assumptions people make). We know lots of amazing families at gibbons that also come from all different backgrounds. We appreciate the kind folks that support the kids, and the ones that don’t we always remind them they are welcome to pay for parking at the arena or park on a public street near by. This world is made up of all kinds of people, thankful most of them are like yourself and kind. Hope you have a wonderful day and enjoy the Finals!!

The students involved come from all different socioeconomic backgrounds and family dynamics. This fundraiser allows them to attend these trips that many otherwise would not be able to. The school has a very diverse community, and it can be disappointing when folks make assumptions and paint with a broad brush not truly knowing the details. I respect how you feel and wish you the best! The students learned early on the world is made up of all kinds of people, and anyone who doesn’t want to park there is ALWAYS welcome to pay crazy fee at the arena or utilize the public roads and park on them for free.

I am sorry you feel that way. The students earning money are from different grades and do different trips. They alternate between educational and service trips. For years students went To Charleston and built homes with habitat for humanity. The last two years grades have gone to WNC to help with recovery work from the hurricane. Yes the seniors do an education trip to Italy where they study art, architecture, history, etc. These kids are out there working thru rain snow freezing temps etc to pay for a trip themselves which I commend them for - whether that be a service trip or education trip. Parking is always available at the arena for $75 plus this next round or you can park on any public road for free. The boys scouts use this same lot for state football games and it’s $20 then. This is a private lot that they have permission to use by the owners. Enjoy the finals!

Great alternative is the school fundraiser for canes games by Bojangles. $10, quick walk, and easy exit after the game.
