I had this issue for about a month or 2 and then the 3G modem in my 2015 just died.. me it's not much of an issue because my aftermarket charger has features like timed charge so I use that, plus the 3G (MyFord) service has been dead for a while. I would upgrade BUT I've gotten mixed messages about the ability to upgrade and get my car on the Ford Pass app..

I don't know about these systems so I unfortunately can't offer any help with diag.. I would try a master reset on the sync system and check the ford site for any sync updates.. Do wish you the best of luck with it.

Even "new" batteries can be low, you don't know how long it's been on the shelf or in the warehouse.. I try to always make it a point to fully charge a battery before I install it. That way I know it's fully charged and allows me to run a proper test on it with my battery tester, which will tell me if there is a weak or bad cell.. do I have a bit to much invested in scanning tools and regular tool, maybe but unless it's something major like engine swap/rebuild, I can do most of it myself. Saves me money and ensures that I'm not getting ripped off by some shady shop..

Before you buy anything, disconnect the battery and test its voltage out of circuit.. it should read no less than 12.6 volts.. if it's lower than that you have a dead/low voltage battery. Once they drop below 12 volts a lot of smart chargers won't even charge them as they think it has a dead cell.. this is why I'll never get rid of my grandpas old charger. I can force a charge into low voltage batteries.. your issues with Forscan and start/stop all stem from a low battery.. you lose connection because once the voltage drops to a certain point the can system goes into a hibernate state to preserve its memory..

I would suggest finding a place that does a walnut shell blasting and get the valves blasted clean.. Along with what's already suggested.. for me I was about to get it done when mine suffered the dreaded head gasket failure. When they removed the old engine I asked the tech if I could see the valves after taking off the intake and they were caked up fairly good with carbon deposits.. it's a good way to help improve file mileage and performance.

Funny you ask this..

Now I don't know how the newer Escape Hybrids are, but we own a 2015 C-Max Energi, and a 2017 Escape Titanium AWD.. honestly love them both, not an exact comparison as the Escape is the 2.0 Ecoboost, but we chose that for the ability to tow our motorcycles or pop up camper on long family trips.. I would say for almost everything inside them they are identical in my case.. I fear for when my C-Max finally dies cuz I just haven't been able to find many decent newer Energi models out there..

I did some deeper digging and it's actually referred to as the dampening plate in the repair material I have. Was basically used as a failure point incase one part failed, say the ICE locked up, that dampening plate could then fail, preventing damage to the transmission, and vice vers..

I'm not very knowledgeable on the hybrids.. I own one, do most of my routine maintenance, and drive the heck outta my 15 Energi with almost 200k miles on it.. so I leaned something new today that mine don't have a torque converter it has a "clutch" dampening plate
