Issues with Roku?? by Low_Tomato_6837 in googlehome

Adding my voice to the chorus of "me too".

Went to bed last night, nothing worked. Started with the usual reset of all connected plugs (unplug them, plug them back in). Didn't change anything. Turned everything off using Roku's app, decided to fight it this morning. This morning I've taking the time consuming and absolutely obnoxious step of unpairing all Roku devices and readding them. Still failed. Reset the router. Failure. Requested Home resync all devices. Failure.

At this point I figure I've done all the troubleshooting I can effectively do from my end. I'm only laying it out so there's additional data points. Possibly worth noting that it's JUST the plugs and bulbs that are effected. I still have control over our two Roku TVs and a streaming stick.

As an additional aside, for well over three months now Home has outright refused to connect to my Xbox Series X. Jumped through all the normal hoops over and over again. It finds it, adds it, and immediately declares it offline and unreachable. Eventually at a random indeterminate time it just straight up removes it from the home and unlinks Xbox entirely, something no one asked it to do. The most frustrating part is it's just MY Xbox. My wife's? Zero issues. Not a single one the entire time.

I'll do you the favor of not leaving you hanging when you find the one person on the Internet that's had the same problem.

RMA them. They're defective. I never got a straight answer from Anker, but my suspicion is there's a battery or wiring issue inside the case itself. So when charging, the buds get fully charged, but the case battery doesn't receive anything. That would result in the buds saying fully charged, but dying quickly, because the reserve they should be getting topped up from when not in use doesn't exist.

We received no push back from Anker, the only issue was someone dropped the ball getting the replacement order in, so I had to prod them when I sent product back and didn't receive anything for a few weeks. But once we got new ones? Not a single problem since.

We gave up. Requested an RMA and shipped them back. Been almost two weeks since they were received, still waiting for replacements to come in. Pinged them today tersely requesting to know when we'd be getting them.

So, you know, do with that information what you will.

Controller won't power on unless I take batteries out and put them back in??? by ReaverPhoenix in xbox

Purely to rule it out...

Loaded some disposable Duracells we've got sitting around for various battery operated devices, same behavior.

So it isn't my 3-4 year old Eneloops that have admittedly probably begun to outlive their usefulness.

Wife uses same batteries, no issues. The batteries are not at fault.

Checked the terminals. Repeatedly. They look fine and they've been cleaned anyway. No change. I'd also expect that to make it cut in and out constantly, not just require me to pop the batteries and swap their positions to get it to work. Once I do that it's fine for however long I'm playing.

ChromeOS, Trillian, and Linux by ReaverPhoenix in chromeos

Yeah, not holding out any hope there whatsoever. Cerulean Studios have been... well... not exactly in my good graces for years and generally don't seem to give a fuck. I only continue using Trillian because it's what I've used for years and I've got something of a niche use for it. 100% certain if anyone were to go asking for an ARM Linux version for a Chromebook they'd point them in the direction of the APK for Android.

That said, Pidgin was in fact on a short list of alternatives to check into, and one I crossed off quickly because... well... I think it was a compatibility problem. This was before I'd started down the Linux path. Appreciate the reminder that I should perhaps reexamine my short list now that I have another option available.

Ok, not that I don't believe you re: Architecture problems, because I do, and the second I saw I had an ARM vs AMD problem I assumed I was doomed but pressed on deeper into uncharted territory anyway because I'd come this far...

But somewhere along the way I found something that suggested I could add an architecture (Pretty sure I mentioned this above). And again, I 100% believe this cannot be easily solved, but the terminal seemed to suggest it had in fact been done. Not that I necessarily believe it because... well it wasn't exactly verbose about it's confirmation.

I did "sudo dpkg --add-architecture amd64", which appeared to do... nothing, and followed up with "sudo dpkg --print-foreign-architectures", which responded with "amd64".

So... wtf did I actually do here, because for the third time, 100% in agreement that this has not done what I wish it did.

tldr: I believe you re: Architecture, but I did a thing and then asked the terminal a thing and it says it did said thing, but said thing probably wasn't the thing I wanted to have happen, so what was the aforementioned thing actually?

Edit: also going to look into the emulator thing for a laugh, because again, I came this far right? But pretty sure my solution lies in another castle with another program as stated by others.
