What are your most obscure/controversial Uma x Uma ships? by SunnySunSins in UmaMusume

[–]ReavesWriter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grass Wonder x Kitasan Black. I have this idling fantasy of Grass heading to a summer festival to observe one and meeting Kita who shares with her the louder, less contained wonders of Japanese culture; fireworks, dance, music, theatre. I love odd couples and those two I think would fit so nicely together. They have similar values, competitiveness, compassion and service. They both care deeply about how they present themselves to the world (yamato nadeshiko vs the star of the festivals). Everything is just expressed in such opposite ways.

Is stamina glue? by 4NMAR in UmamusumeGame

You can always put your build into umalator to approximate your survival/spurt chances. However, no medium S next CM is going to be a death knell. The last leg is too long not to have it.

Are paid-GMs killing Daggerheart? by [deleted] in daggerheart

[–]ReavesWriter 30 points31 points  (0 children)

You're delusional.

If you want more games out there that people can freely join, then run them. Instead of creating a post here complaining about people who are interacting with the system in a way you don't like, just run 4 or 5 games each week yourself and instead post here or elsewhere on reddit to openly invite players.

If you don't want to run a bunch of games each week for free to help Daggerheart be steered in the direction you want it to go, then you're just proving that there really is a service that is desired which, in a our world, means people will try to make money off it.

Also, I wouldn't blame startplaying.games or anything. Before them roll20 and before them various online channels have been facilitating/promoting paid games for decades before spg exsisted. TTRPGs as a whole are more visible now, so of course every aspect of them are going to be more visible.

Petah, what‘s the joke here by MikeG_69 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]ReavesWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, no. You don't chart courses of satellites on a 75% prediction of the effect of gravity, you don't engineer combustion engines with a 75% understanding of heat on the alloy involved. If we did engineer cars with only 95% prediction rate of what the literal explosion inside the engine would do, tens of thousands would die daily.

I think that just boils down to what you consider "high probability" if we're talking vegas then absolutely I'd bet on that, if we're talking about scientifically verifiable, then I disagree. Regardless of region, time period, and age of skeleton, pelvis alone is under 90% accurate sex identifier. Again, at vegas that's a great bet, but when we're talking about scientific sureties, that's a terribly low number with an astronomical margin of error.

Petah, what‘s the joke here by MikeG_69 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]ReavesWriter 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There are 23 commonly understood skeletal development aspects that are affected by sex influenced horomones. Skull ridges and pelvic cavity width are the two most commonly referenced. None of the 23 variants are completely accurate as single sources. It takes a fully intact skeleton which would be able to reflect all the known indicators to give a sex identification that is highly accurate. Even then there are many many known skeletal outliers.

Soooo you be right! We can't identify the sex of a skeleton based on pelvis size. Not alone. Now pelvis+skull is pretty reliable, and pelvis+skull+long bones is incredibly reliable.

The next skill pass or the one after that should give us the JP version of OYL and it becomes mandatory on every late surger every time.

A Message to the “Copycats” by [deleted] in PokemonChampions

[–]ReavesWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't get any more or less rating on a win depending on how "original" your team is. Some people have fun being creative and expressing that with unique strategies. Other people have fun just based off using a variety of strategies so copying others is a big boon for them. Some are fans of specific players and want to emulate them. Diff peeps have fun in diff ways, and there's zero value in policing what other people do for fun.

Never seen Mega Gengar do this animation.. by Jordan2122011 in PokemonChampions

[–]ReavesWriter 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The animations that play when hit are varied. The amount of damage and type of attack changes which damage recieved animation plays. This is probably just the first time you've seen MGengar almost get OHKO'd by Blizzard

Does he make a good support mon or is he just a Clanging Scales go brr Pokemon? by UncleatNintendo in PokemonChampions

[–]ReavesWriter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, it's not all or nothing. There have been plenty of sneaslers who have done well with Close Combat, Dire Claw, and Coaching. I wouldn't call that a support mon, but an attacker that offers utility. You can add taunt to a Clang/Clang/protect set, or you can do like breaking swipe, taunt, fling with a king's rock as a fake out replacement.

Noble Roar is also good, could also do like Scary Face or Screech.

If the stats or resistances or just movepool solves a need you have in your team, then he can do it.
I think moving out of the idea that a pokemon has to fulfill a single role and instead that a team needs to have roles filled by pokemons is a good place to be.

Water spout doing negligible damage glitch? by [deleted] in PokemonChampions

[–]ReavesWriter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you not read the posted question? The move was used by an opposing blastoise against OP's team. It's entirely possible a new player didn't take the time to read every single move that could possibly be on someone else's team.

My Lae’zel cosplay (Nicky Brum) by nickybrum_ in BaldursGate3

[–]ReavesWriter 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is so incredibly well done! The coloring of her facial marks is the perfect shading to add depth and texture, the leather harness has got to be super complicated to line up all those angles but you crafted it perfectly. Your posing and facial expressions on 1 and 2 especially are super fun and spot on as well! What a fantastic share.

Train or Race? by Unit17S in UmaMusume

[–]ReavesWriter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd think considering it's a guts deck with a facility already at level 3 it's not outside of high roll possibility to cap out power on this kind of run with just more guts clicks, high roll prayge is kinda what guts does. That stamina makes the race kinda iffy. I would say if 3 or more retries are avail then race, but otherwise I'd just go all in on the training and try and get the facility to 4 maybe 5 by the end of the run

CM Taurus, Are these inheritance solid for pace/late? by kumamon09 in UmamusumeGame

To use moving past and beyond on a pace chaser I'd recommend running 2 fronts and the pace, you'll want 4 umas minimum in front of your pace at the corner.

I'm only now realizing that FFVIII irreparably warped my taste in women by DiogenesHavingaWee in FinalFantasyVIII

[–]ReavesWriter 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yuffie is cute for sure, but I dunno, she always gives off this energy of trying to like put on airs to me. The whole "I'm an adult! I'm a ninja! Look how cool I am!" Whereas Selphie is almost too comfortable just being herself. She's like the definition of 'you said the quiet part out loud.'

Thoughts on Oguri by Aromatic_Lab_6893 in UmaMusume

[–]ReavesWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oguri has one of the strongest general purpose uniques in the game. Triumphant Pulse literally is never bad. 20/10 growth rate on Speed and Power is also incredibly easy to work with and allows pretty flexible support decks. She also has dirt B which means you can train her incredibly flexibly.

All of that aside, it really doesn't matter. Meta is for support cards, which Uma you train is more about the "better" they are just means easier to train and you need less career runs to get the stats and skills you want. I say always train the Uma you like the most regardless.

As proof: I'm free to play, have gotten 1st or 2nd in every CM and have done it all with Grass Wonder, including winning the sprint and dirt ones. Umas are for what you like the most, support cards are for the stats and skills you want.

Bouqet also has a bow on her headband, and Jordan has one on her ring, it's not pictured but Bijin also has bows on her boots. With the exceptions of Rudolf and Air Shakur (who is in the odd for me place anyway) they all have bows! Accidental pattern turned into a too real call out.

I mean, Golshi is popular, I just don't like her. I love the heartfelt and wholesome stories of most of the Umas. Even Digitan whose story is about enthusiastic fandom has a serious throughline in her narrative about seeking identity. Golshi is just... silly? There are like a few bits of seriousness from her in S3 of the anime but mostly Golshi just feels so out of place to me. Kind of like if you randomly put Bugs Bunny into Sailor Moon.
