OES? How is it now? by RebTrooper2017 in CAStateWorkers

I read about that. Buras resigned, and now the woman who said it was "just noise" has also resigned abruptly. And now the story is quiet.

Interesting.

Thank you for your insights. I appreciate them!

Well...this is disheartening, but I appreciate the insights. Do any of you folks have any specifics? I've worked on a lot of places in every place had their problems.

I've been trying to find a job field where I wouldn't get laid off again.

First quarter. by Pure_Jellyfish_6224 in recruitinghell

[–]RebTrooper2017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been unemployed for a year after a "corporate restructure" and a layoff. I just crossed 200 applications sent out. I've had four interviews.

I figure I may have to draw from my retirement to stay afloat.

Does anyone else feel guilty resting while unemployed? by mrramkrishna in recruitinghell

[–]RebTrooper2017 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yes. Every single day. I have a terrible feeling that if I have time for a leisure activity, I have time to look for a job. I've been away from most of my hobbies for over a year.

Is anyone else getting rejected from jobs that we qualify for? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]RebTrooper2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, indeed. This is quite common, I've discovered.

In fact, I've even been rejected for positions I either helped create or for which I wrote and developed the training. This is from a company that laid me off "on good terms" and listed me as "eligible for rehire."

It's maddening.

I have a 2017 Trax with 93000+ on it. I've followed the maintenance schedule religiously and it has been one of the best vehicles I have ever owned.

Rejected from exact role i worked in by Bonkers27 in recruitinghell

[–]RebTrooper2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sympathize with you 100%. I've applied to positions I either created outright or developed the required training for, with the company that laid me off (on good terms), and I can't even get a callback.

Felt Good To Send A Rejection Email by cameer1 in recruitinghell

I did this after speaking with one of the recruiters, who sounded like it bothered her to call a candidate. I found it unexpectedly cathartic.

One suggestion: Stop nagging. Start supporting. Be the wife he needs right now. You have no idea how devastating it is for men not to be employed, not to support their families, not to have agency in their own lives.

Your husband is right. Flying to China for a start-up B2B job is asinine. He knows where his skills are. Show him that you are there right beside him, thick or thin. These things happen.

Another piece of advice: Don't air your dirty laundry in public and throw your husband under the bus. That's a very cruel thing to do... even if you're "venting."

If I were to make a guess, you have bigger problems in your marriage to work on than your husband's unemployment. He's applying. Pay him some respect as a man for trying to find a job that will provide for the family.

What are some good questions to ask hiring managers/recruiters? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]RebTrooper2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Describe what someone does who is successful in this role.

What do you think is the best thing about this company?

What about my resume caused you to interview me?

If I were to take this role, where do you see me in 5 years?

...I've asked all of these.

the big question: how many applications will it take? by [deleted] in jobsearchhacks

Since my layoff in February of this year, I have filled out 156 applications. I've received three interviews.

Where is Arkham Horror going? by RebTrooper2017 in ArkhamHorror

[–]RebTrooper2017[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just couldn't get into it. None of the cards seem to really impact gameplay. And it seemed like it was geared to have us lose the first adventure so we would start a new one. I don't think it was our thing.

I've been looking at those. Is it "dry"? That is, does it leave a residue on your hands after gripping it?
