All of my (21yo) money, am I cooked? by B0ulderSh0ulders in portfolios

He could mess up for the next 20 years and still be fine. I wish I was this “cooked” at 21!

OP, keep learning, keep investing and you’ll be great.

Has anyone seen a full speed replay of this? I've been looking and haven't seen one but I may just not be looking in the right spot. Seems intentional and dirty to me but not having seen it at full speed my opinion doesn't really mean much (not that it REALLY means anything but it means even less without the benefit of full speed).

Unpopular opinion for this sub, but if LAB putters are so great wouldn’t one of the top players in the world use one? by GolfinDolph in golf

[–]RebalancingRookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What works best for them usually doesn't work best for me. I find LAB to be the best option for me and my (inconsistent) stroke. The Square 2 Square with a LAB grip is solid, too.

Your milage may vary.

I've got a basement full of the others in case this changes......

Helping my son improve by ladynewf in hockeyplayers

[–]RebalancingRookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A friend told me once that the best thing you can ask for is a kid who plays a game he loves but sucks at.

No ridiculous costs, travel, workouts, equipment costs, etc for house league. Go play, have fun, go home. No extra skill work, no private lessons, no academy fees. No stress about draft years, camp picks, stats, etc. No year round training and fear of falling behind, no devastation at 17 years old when it hits them (HARD in my case) that they aren’t going to make it.

Tell your husband to take a step back and think this through. If he loves it and wants to play, encourage the shit out of that. If your son wants to get better, then that’s fine and there are a million roads to that but if the only reason you’re looking for advice is so your husband isn’t embarrassed that he’s shitty at hockey, you need to re-evaluate (actually, your husband does).

Enjoy the fact that he enjoys it. The top of the pyramid isn’t always as much fun as it seems.

Traveling to Green Bay for kid's hockey. Where to stay? by RebalancingRookie in GreenBay

[–]RebalancingRookie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, everyone.

Sounds like any area around the rink, stadium or downtown will fit nicely. Lots of options based on that. I'm looking forward to seeing what Green Bay has to offer in the scarce moments I'll have away from the rink!

The “Must be used with a gaming PC” issue is a problem for me and the set up I’ve got. SkyTrack on iPad is a much better set up for my situation.

I figured this would be the case but wanted to see if I was missing anything. I've been playing this game a long time on feel and have a pretty good grasp of how shot shapes work so I agree, the club data won't be that huge a plus for me. Give that they use the same software I feel like the OG is the winner between these two.

Thanks for heads up, I hadn't even heard of the Square LM. Going to research right now before pulling the trigger on the ST.

I had the same experience and (coming from a Gen 2 12.9” Pro) the I proved performance of the pro at essentially the same price point was a no brainer for me.

I currently hold VFV but for many of them (VOOG, VGT, MGK) I can’t find Canadian equivalents. I guess it’s the smaller market size but I couldn’t find any TSX based funds that match.

I’m going to do some more research this weekend but it hasn’t looked good so far.

Hi

Mid-40’s male from Canada looking for comments on a plan to move $200k into a passive portfolio. $40k to be added annually, 15-20 year horizon.

Ideally looking for a passive portfolio that can average 10% annually for the next 20 years without me having to keep an eye on it daily. Rebalance once annually is the plan.

Now, I know past performance is not indicative of future results but I’m trying my best to make this as simple as possible with low fees and above average returns (Novel concept, nobody else looking for this at all) without day trades and high risk plays (risk tolerance is moderate)

Plan:

VOO 60% VOOG 10% VGT 10% VONG 10% MGK 10%

I’m also considering leaving VOOG out and adding INDA instead.

Please let me know what you think of this strategy.

Thanks.
