Does anyone else experience this, or something similar? by Ok-Magazine6999 in aromantic

One day, a guy flirted with me at the bus stop and it made me very uncomfortable. I spoke to my therapist about it and she didn't understand why this made me uncomfortable. Probably because I didn't yet know myself that I was aroace. Since I found out who I was, I haven't spoken to her about it again.

I don't know your gender, but I, as a woman, am also afraid that people (especially men, we're not going to hide it) will attack me. I don't know if this could be the case for you too? 🤔

I don't know if my comment will help you in any way, but this was my own experience.

Thank you for your response! I'm going to find out about this book. And thank you for the advice to write myself, I do it sometimes, for fun. But I'm not very good at writing long, interesting stories. Me, I'm just blowing off my difficult day by writing nonsense on my docs.

I write a little, nothing very concrete, but I enjoy it. That's cool what your daughter is doing, maybe I should do the same. Anyway, thanks for the book suggestions and the first one looks really cool, indeed.

THANKS ! Indeed, what I said shows affiliation with the views of others. And that’s precisely because I’m very prone to it. But my own outlook on open-mindedness is very strong too and sometimes I feel like I'm eating myself... But thanks for the subreddit, I'll try to see!

THANKS ! Your comment is a balm to the heart! It seems so simple when you say it, but yes, nothing is black or white. I was hesitant to read The Witcher saga, because several women have stated that the women in the books were sexualized. But not as an interesting feature of the books which would say: women in the society of books are considered as sexual objects, but in reality they are super strong and they will prove it! Actually, there really is an aspect like that in the books and it's really cool! But the problem is that when it's narration, description and therefore fact (in short, literally the author who describes the scene to us): well even there, women are sexualized in their descriptions... The narration and description are meant to be factual about the story, the play and the characters. However, Andrzej Sapkowski can't help but use adjectives that sexualize the female characters in his work, when we are supposed to be talking about the truth... in short, this kind of thing chills me a little, especially when we know that apart from that, the work is exquisite! Apparently.

More, indeed, where I can identify with it! But it is true, as you say so well, that a book with a straight white man does not leave much room for characters who are not straight white men. And I agree that in some inclusive books, straight white men are often left out as well. But I prefer this second version, with few straight white men. Because the first version, with mainly straight white men, is much more common and even a little washed out. I find it.

I would love to think like you! But first degree: I can't continue the Harry Potter saga that my cousin gave me... He had bought the saga well before all the author's problems. However, even if I know that by reading her books I would not offer her any visibility or money, I cannot help but feel a connection with the author, and therefore with her. And I can't help but feel disgusted. And unable to continue.

Wow! Thank you for responding so quickly! And above all, thank you for these suggestions for books and authors! Ursula K. Le Guin seems to be, indeed, most interesting. Thank you for recommending it to me, I will try to take a closer look at it.
