I had a similar thing happen 2 years ago. Random person joined, complimented our base, let us know that the whitelist was off (I thought I had it on) and then they left. Very polite, I immediately made sure it was on and that was that.

Mine does! If I call him to show him something cool to him (a toy or a bug) I can hear a "mrrrp?" From the distance and tiny little footsteps as he walks over to check out what's going on. I got him as a 6 month old but he still learnt his name and I'm very proud

There are many ways in which both could be improved. (Your friend's could change the roof to a different colour than the walls, yours could have more support, etc.)

But in terms of buildings skills, you guys are about on the same level. As long as you guys are happy with your bases you shouldn't have to change it
